Dear Shepherd of Thy scattered few, Here may we prove the power of prayer, Lord we are few, but Thou art near, HYMN 56. FIRST-BORN of many brethren, Thou, A name, above all other names Of praise, on Earth, or Heaven. Before Thy throne shall every knee For Thou hast smitten Death and Hell, And wrested from the Conqueror's grasp, And Thy right hand hath open flung To share Thy victory. Fain would we rise, where Thou hast risen, HYMN 57. THINE heritage and hope are ours, Redeemed, and ruled by Thee. Our longing eyes would fain behold Why linger then-come, Saviour, come, Earth sighs for Thy recall, Set up Thine empire, and reign, The heir, and Lord of all. HYMN 58. THE head, that once was crowned with thorns, Is crowned with glory now A royal diadem adorns The mighty Conqueror's brow The highest place, that heaven affords Is His, by native right; The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, The joy of all, who dwell above, To whom He manifests His love To them the Cross, with all its shame, Their name an everlasting name, Their song-the Song of Heaven.— They suffer with their master, here, HYMN 59. Go to dark Gethsemane, Ye, that feel the Tempter's power, Your Redeemer's conflict see, Watch with Him one bitter hour: Turn not from His griefs away; Follow to the Judgement Hall, O the pangs His soul sustained! Calvary's mournful mountain climb, God's own sacrifice complete; "It is finished," hear him cry, Trust in Christ, and learn to die. Early hasten to the tomb, Where they laid His breathless clay, All is solitude, and gloom, ! Who hath taken Him away Christ is risen, He meets our eyes, Saviour, teach us how to rise. HYMN 60. SING We the song of those, who stand Toil, trial, suffering, still await Worthy the Lamb, for sinners slain," Cry the Redeemed above, Blessing, and honour, to obtain, And everlasting love. Worthy the Lamb, on earth we sing, Who died our souls to save; Henceforth, O Death! where is thy sting? Thy victory, O Grave? Then Hallelujah! power, and praise To God in Christ be given: |
