Thine are seven-fold grace, and glory, Strength of the Almighty Father, So with worship never ceasing, HYMN 74. THOU, God, art a consuming fire; From toil and tumult to retire, Though "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord!" And angel-choirs, with one accord, Though earth Thy footstool, heaven Thy throne, Thy way amidst the sea; Thy path deep floods, Thy steps unknown, Thy counsels mystery ; Yet wilt Thou look on him who lies Between the Cherubim of old, But God, through Christ, we now behold Through Him, who all our sickness felt, Who all our sorrows bare; Through Him in whom Thy fulness dwelt, Touch'd with a feeling of our woes, All our infirmities He knows; Our souls are in His hands. He bears them up with strength Divine, HYMN 75. LORD, teach us how to pray aright, We perish, if we cease from prayer; Burden'd with guilt, convinced of sin, In weakness, want, and wo, Fightings without, and fears within, Lord, whither shall we go? God of all grace, we come to Thee, Give deep humility; the sense Faith in the only sacrifice, That can for sin atone; To cast our hopes, to fix our eyes, Patience, to watch, and wait, and weep, Though mercy long delay; Courage, our fainting souls to keep, And trust Thee, though Thou slay. Give these;-and then Thy will be done; HYMN 76. FATHER of all our mercies,-Thou, When bound with sins and trespasses, When harass'd by ten thousand foes, O give the weary soul repose, When dire temptations gather round, And threaten, or allure, When age advances, may we grow In faith, and hope, and love; And walk in holiness below To holiness above. When earthly joys and cares depart, Be Thou the portion of our heart, In Thee may we have peace. When flames these elements destroy, HYMN 77. LESS than the least of all Thy Son Thou didst not spare, Him didst Thou send our guilt to bear, Our righteousness fulfil. The world we would forsake, Our all to Thee resign; O save us for Thy mercies' sake! Meanwhile, as pilgrims here, |
