2 Father, save me from my sin;

Saviour, I Thy mercy crave; Gracious Spirit, make me clean; Father, Son, and Spirit, save. 3 Father, let me taste Thy love; Saviour, fill my soul with peace;

Spirit, come my heart to move; Father, Son, and Spirit, bless. 4 Father, Son, and Spirit, Thou One Jehovah, shed abroad All Thy grace within me now; Be my Father and my God.

[graphic]

2 I have long withstood His grace, Long provoked Him to His face, Would not hearken to His calls, Grieved Him by a thousand falls. 3 Kindled His relentings are,

Me He now delights to spare;

169 DORRNANCE 85, 75.

Cries, "How shall I give thee up?"
Lets the lifted thunder drop.

4 There for me the Saviour stands,
Shows His wounds, and spreads His
God is love: I know, I feel; [hands;
Jesus lives and loves me still.
C. Wesley, 1740

2 Father, make me pure and lowly,
Fond of peace and far from strife;
Turning from the paths unholy
Of this vain and sinful life.

3 Ever let Thy grace surround me, Strengthen me with power divine,

126

Till Thy cords of love have bound me:
Make me to be wholly Thine.

4 May the blood of Jesus heal me
And my sins be all forgiven;
Holy Spirit, take and seal me,
Guide me in the path of heaven.

3 Far off I stand with tearful eyes Nor dare uplift them to the skies But Thou dost all my anguish see; O God, be merciful to me!

4 Nor alms, nor deeds that I have done Can for a single sin atone;

To Calvary alone I flee;

O God, be merciful to me!

5 And when, redeemed from sin and hell, With all the ransomed throng I dwell, My raptured song shall ever be,

God has been merciful to me!

2 Thou spreadst the curtains of the night, Great guardian of my sleeping hours; Thy sovereign word restores the light And quickens all my drowsy powers.

3 I yield my powers to Thy command, To Thee I consecrate my days; Perpetual blessings from Thine hand Demand perpetual songs of praise.

W. S. Bambridge, 1872

1. THRO' the night of doubt and sorrow Onward goes the pil-grim band,

Singing songs of ex pec- ta tion, March-ing to the prom-ised land.
