3 To Jacob he hath fully taught
The doctrines of his word;
And maketh known to Israel's seed,
The statutes of the Lord.

4 He hath not thus to other lands,
His pow'r and love made known;
Then let us all with thankful songs,
Adore his name alone.

PSALM CXLVIII. (P. M.)

1 YE boundless realms of joy,
Exalt your Maker's fame,
His praise your song employ
Above the starry frame;
Your voices raise,

Ye cherubim

And seraphim,

To sing his praise.

2 Thou moon, that rul'st the night,
And sun, that guid'st the day;

Ye glitt'ring stars of light,
To him your homage pay;

His praise declare,

Ye heav'ns above,

And clouds that move
In liquid air.

3 Let them adore the Lord,
And praise his holy name,
By whose almighty word
They all from nothing came,
And all shall last

From changes free;

His firm decree

Stands ever fast.

4 His chosen saints to grace,
He sets them up on high,
And favours Israel's race,
Who still to him are nigh;
O therefore raise

Your grateful voice,
And still rejoice
The Lord to praise.

PSALM CL. (L. M.)
First Version.

1 O PRAISE the Lord, in that blest place,
From whence his goodness largely flows;
Praise him in heav'n, where he his face
Unveil'd in perfect glory shows.

2 Praise him for all the mighty acts
Which he in our behalf has done;
His kindness this return exacts,
With which our praise should equal run.
3 Let all that vital breath enjoy,
The breath he does to them afford,
In just returns of praise employ ;
Let ev'ry creature praise the Lord.

PSALM CL. (7's.)

Second Version.

1 PRAISE, O praise the name divine;
Praise it at the hallow'd shrine;
Let the firmament on high,
To its Maker's praise reply.
2 Ev'ry tongue, with one accord,
Praise the name of Jacob's Lord;
Let his acts and power supreme,
To your songs afford a theme.
3 Let the organ in his praise

Learn its loudest notes to raise:
Let each voice with grateful sound
From the vaulted roof rebound.

4 All who vital breath enjoy,
In his praise that breath employ ;
And with holy zeal proclaim,
Glory to Jehovah's name.

END OF THE PSALMS.

SELECTION OF HYMNS.

1

HYMN I. (L. M.)

1 AWAKE, my soul, and with the sun,
Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and early rise,
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

2 Glory to thee, who safe hast kept,
And hast refresh'd me while I slept:
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless life partake.

3 Lord, I my vows to thee renew,

Scatter my sins as morning dew:
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with thyself my spirit fill.

4 Direct, control, suggest this day,
All I design, or do, or say:

That all my powers, with all their might,
In thy sole glory may unite.

5 Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise him all creatures here below,
Praise him above, ye heav'nly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Psalm xii, 7. (P. M.)

1 THROUGH the night, by thee preserved,
Lord, we come to own thy care,
Had'st thou done as we deserved,
Death and wrath our portion were.
Saviour! pardon all our sin,
Let this day with thee begin:
Ev'ry hour,

Ev'ry pow'r,

Through the day to thee be given,
Ev'ry day till call'd to heaven!

Haggai ii, 7. (P. M.)

1 COME thou long expected Jesus!
Born to set thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in thee;
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all thy saints thou art;
Dear desire of ev'ry nation,
Joy for ev'ry longing heart!

2 Born thy people to deliver,

Born a child, and yet a King;
Born to reign in us for ever,
Now thy gracious kingdom bring;
