PREPARATION FOR HOLY

COMMUNION.

Remember the words of the LORD JESUS how He said,

Whoso eateth My Flesh and drinketh My Blood hath Eternal Life, and I will raise him up at the Last Day. . . . He that eateth My Flesh and drinketh My Blood dwelleth in Me, and I in him. . As I live by the FATHER, so he that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me. . . . Abide in Me, and I in you.

Be diligent that ye may be found
of Him in peace, without spot,
and blameless.

A

Self-Examination.

Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that Bread and drink of that Сир.

IN the Name of the

IN

FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST. Amen.

Righteousness, O LORD, belongs unto Thee, but unto me confusion of face, a weak, vain, and sinful child of man.

I am not worthy of the air I breathe, of the earth I tread upon, or of the sun that shines upon me; much less worthy to lift up either hands or eyes unto Heaven.

For Thou hast said that no unclean thing shall come within Thy sight; and how then shall I appear who am so miserably defiled?

O my GOD, Thou madest me of nothing, and Thou seest how I have spoiled this work of Thine, for I am still in my sins, and what to do I know not.

But this I will do; I will confess my

wickedness, and be sorry for my sin; I will not suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber, until I have, by the mediation of Thy dear SON, earnestly besought Thy pardon.

Therefore now, LORD, I pray Thee, call my sins to my remembrance; and when Thou hast done so, blot them out of the Book of Thy remembrance, and pardon

me.

Then say the following.

COME, HOLY GHOST, our souls inspire,

And lighten with celestial fire.

Thou the anointing SPIRIT art,
Who dost Thy seven-fold gifts impart.

Thy blessed Unction from above,
Is comfort, life, and fire of love.
Enable with perpetual light
The dulness of our blinded sight.

Anoint and cheer our soiled face
With the abundance of Thy grace.
Keep far our foes, give peace at home :
Where Thou art Guide, no ill can come.

Teach us to know the FATHER, SON,
And Thee, of Both, to be but One.
That, through the ages all along,
This may be our endless song;

Praise to Thy eternal merit,
FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT.
