And let the world, adoring, see
Triumphs of mercy wrought by Thee!
Say to the heathen from Thy throne,
I am Jehovah, God alone!

Thy voice their idols shall confound,
And cast their altars to the ground.
Let Zion's time of favour come;
O bring the tribes of Israel home;
And let our wondering eyes behold
Gentiles and Jews in Jesu's fold.
Almighty God, Thy grace proclaim;
Exalt the Saviour's glorious Name;
Let every foe before Him fall,

Confest, adored, the Lord of all.-AMEN.

"O that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the Lord bringeth back the captivity of His people, Jacob shall rejoice and Israel shall be glad.

THAT the Lord's salvation
Were out of Zion come,

To heal His ancient nation,
To lead His outcasts home!
How long the holy city

Shall heathen feet profane?
Return, O Lord, in pity,
Rebuild her walls again.
Let fall Thy rod of terror,
Thy saving grace impart ;
Roll back the veil of error,

Release the fettered heart.

Let Israel, home returning,
Her lost Messiah see:

Give oil of joy for mourning,

And bind Thy Church to Thee.—AMEN.

S.M.

"In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand."

Sow in the morn thy seed,

At eve hold not thy hand;

To doubt and fear give thou no heed,

Broadcast it o'er the land.

The good, the fruitful ground,

Expect not here nor there;

O'er hill and dale, by plots 'tis found;
Go forth, then, everywhere.

Thou know'st not which may thrive,
The late or early sown;

Grace keeps the precious germs alive,
When and wherever strown:

And duly shall appear

In verdure, beauty, strength,
The tender blade, the stalk, the ear,
And the full corn at length.

Thou canst not toil in vain ;
Cold, heat, and moist and dry
Shall foster and mature the grain
For garners in the sky.

Thence, when the glorious end,
The day of God, is come,

The angel-reapers shall descend,

And heaven cry-Harvest home! AMEN.

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law

of Christ."

HELP us, O Lord, Thy yoke to wear,
Delighting in Thy perfect will;

Each other's burdens may we bear,
And thus Thy law of love fulfil.

Teach us, with glad and willing heart,
As Thou hast blest our various store,
From our abundance to impart
A liberal portion to the poor.

To Thee our all devoted be,

In Whom we breathe, and move, and live;
Freely we have received from Thee;

Freely may we rejoice to give.

And while we thus obey Thy word,
And every want of life relieve,

O may we find it, gracious Lord!

More blest to give than to receive.—AMEN.

C.M.

"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me."

FOUNTAIN of good! to own Thy love

Our thankful hearts incline;

What can we render, Lord, to Thee,
When all the worlds are Thine?

But Thou hast needy brethren here,
Partakers of Thy grace,

Whose humble names Thou wilt confess
Before Thy Father's face.

CONSECRATION OF CHURCHES. 213

In their sad accents of distress

Thy pleading voice is heard ;

In them Thou mayst be clothed and fed,
And visited and cheered.

Thy face, with reverence and with love,
We in Thy poor would see;
For while we minister to them,
We do it, Lord, to Thee.—Amen.

ORD of hosts, to Thee we raise

Here a house of prayer and praise;

Thou Thy people's hearts prepare
Here to meet for praise and prayer.

Let the living here be fed

With Thy Word, the heavenly bread;
Here, in hope of glory blest,

May they find eternal rest.

Here to Thee a temple stand,

While the sea shall gird the land ;

Here reveal Thy mercy sure,

While the sun and moon endure.

Alleluia! earth and sky

To the joyful sound reply ;

Alleluia! hence ascend

Prayer and praise till time shall end.

CONSECRATION OF CHURCHES.

Jesu, praise to Thee be given,
With the Father, high in heaven;
Glory, Holy Ghost, to Thee,
Now, and through eternity.-AMEN.

P.M.

"Hear Thou from Thy dwelling-place, even from heaven; and when Thou hearest, forgive."

LORD, Whose Temple once did glisten
With a monarch's rich supplies,

To our humble praises listen,

Bless our willing sacrifice.

Here Thy love our hearts shall brighten,
Driving earth-born clouds away;
Here Thy Spirit shall enlighten,
Shining to the perfect day.

Hither, on each holy morning,
Guide us on our church-way path;
Here, O Lord, in life's first dawning,
Sprinkle every child of wrath.
Here, around Thy table bending,
Feed us with the living Bread;
Here, to wait their Lord's descending,
Hallowed earth! receive the dead.

When our people's sore transgression
Stays the blessing of the sky;
When we sink beneath oppression;
When our stricken thousands die;
Father, when we here adore Thee,

In Thy house our prayer receive;
When we spread our hands before Thee,
Here behold us, and forgive.-AMEN.
