THE BT MIRACLES OF CHRIST:. WITH EXPLANATORY OBSERVATIONS, AND ILLUSTRATIONS INTENDED FOR THE YOUNG. REVISED BY THE EDITOR, D. P. KIDDER. NEW YORK: PUBLISHED BY G. LANE & C. B. TIPPETT, FOR THE SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION OF THE METHODIST EPISCOPAL Joseph Longking, Printer. 1847. 1847 EDITOR'S PREFACE. "THE MIRACLES OF CHRIST !"-What theme can be more interesting? What incidents in the history of the world ought to have a greater charm for either young or old? Do we pity human suffering? Here it was relieved. Do we admire the Saviour's character? Here we behold its loveliest traits. Do we wonder at manifestations of divine power? Here they are displayed before our eyes. Are we melted by exhibitions of the Saviour's love? Here we trace his footsteps as he went about continually doing good. Do we reverence the religion of the Bible? Here are demonstrations of its truth. Do we desire to commune with our Maker? Here we behold God manifest in the flesh. Are we distressed and burdened with the weight of our transgressions? Here we "behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world." Reader, you cannot do yourself a greater benefit than to become familiarly acquainted with the subject of this book. You ought to know the occasion, the order, the number, and the design of all the miracles of Christ. You ought often to meditate upon all the acts of your Redeemer, in order that you may faithfully follow his example. It being your desire to acquire this knowledge, and to take a connected view of Christ's mission upon earth, you can hardly have a more suitable guide and assistant than this little volume. Read it, and you will be interested. Study it, and you will be profited. Imitate the spirit it breathes, and practice the righteousness it inculcates, and, through another miracle of grace, you may be for ever saved. New-York, 1845. CONTENTS. CHAPTER I.
