PSALM LX.

DESTROY

us not in wrath, O Lord!

Forgive our fins, thy peace afford!
As we thy just displeasure mourn,
To us in mercy now return!

Our strength, which as the earth did ftand,
Is rent by thine avenging hand:

O heal the breaches Thou haft made!
We fall, when thou withdraw'ft thine aid.

See and regard thy fervants fears,
In mercy yet behold their tears!

Though once the path of fin we trod,
Do Thou still hear !-be Thou our God!

Go forth!—our fainting hearts fustain !
All hope repos'd in Man is vain:

Fresh strength and courage God bestows;
He fhall tread down our proudeft foes.

PSALM LXII.

FROM God above my fafety flows,

My foul for help on Him relies :
He is my rock, which strength bestows;
He fuccour fends, as troubles rife.

God fhall his faving health dispense;
His hand shall daily bleffings fend:

Heet

LXIII.

O GOD! to Thee I lift my eyes ;

E'er yet the early dawn arise,

To Thee my thirsty foul fhall fly:
My fainting spirit seeks thy grace,
As in a dry and barren place,

With no refreshing waters nigh.

Because to me thy wondrous love
Than life itself doth dearer prove,
My lips fhall always fpeak thy praise.
My life, while I that life enjoy,

In bleffing God I will employ,

And fongs of endless glory raife.

Continued.

My foul, when finking in despair,
Cleaves faft to Thee, whofe tender care
In her fupport is daily fhewn.
I, Lord, in Thee will ftill rejoice;
But a falfe tongue and lying voice

Can bring no praise before thy throne.

Nightly, when fleep my eyelid folds,
Thee, Lord, in thought my mind beholds,
And, when awake, I live with Thee.
Because Thou ftill doft fuccour bring,
Spreading the fhadow of thy wing,

To me thou God alone fhalt be.
