Eafter Hymn.

C

CL.

PRAISE, O praise the name divine,

Praise it at the hallow'd fhrine !

Let the firmament on high

To its Maker's praise reply! Hallelujah.

Let his acts and pow'r fupreme

To your fongs fuggeft a theme!

Harp, and lute, and timbrel bring,

Wake to life each tuneful ftring! Hallelujah.

Let the cymbal's varying found
From the vaulted roof rebound!

Swell the organ in his praise !—

All the pow'rs of mufic raife! Hallelujah.

[blocks in formation]

All, who vital breath enjoy,

In his praise that breath employ !

And in one great chorus join,

"Praise, O praise the name divine!" Hallelujah,

Ancafter.

Redeem the time, the moments past,
O live this day as if thy last!
Improve thy talent, take due care,
Thyfelf against that day prepare!

Let all thy converse be sincere,
Thy confcience as the noon-day clear!
For God's all-feeing eye furveys

Thy fecret thoughts, thy works, and ways.

Awake, and raise thyself, my heart,
Thou with the angels bear thy part!
They all night-long unwearied fing
Glory to their eternal king.

Ancafter.

Glory to God, who safe hath kept,
Who hath refresh'd me while I flept!
May I, when thus from death I wake,
Through Him an endless life partake!

Lord, I my vows to Thee renew,
Scatter my fins as morning dew!
Guard my firft fpring of thought and will,
And with thyself my spirit fill!

Praise God, from whom all bleffings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below!
Praise Him above, angelic host,

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

GLORY

ORY to Thee, my God, this night

For all the bleffings of the light!

Keep me, O keep me, King of Kings,
Under thy own almighty wings!

The evil, I this day have done,

Forgive, O Lord, through Chrift thy fon!
That, with the world, myself and Thee,
I, ere I fleep, at peace may be.

Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
Teach me to die, that fo I may
With joy behold the judgement-day!

O may my foul on Thee repose!
Thou with foft fleep my eyelids close!
Or, if the night I fleepless lie,

My mind with heav'nly thoughts fupply!
