HYMN CXCVI. Rev. XXI. 1-4. (C. M.)

1 Lo, what a glorious sight appears
To our believing eyes!

The earth and seas are pass'd away,
And the old rolling skies.

2 From the third heav'n where God resides,
That holy, happy place,
The new Jerusalem comes down,
Adorn'd with shining grace.

3 Attending angels shout for joy,
And the bright armies sing:
"Mortals, behold the sacred seat
Of your descending King.

4 "The God of glory down to men Removes his blest abode;

66

"Men, the dear objects of his grace, "And he their present God.

5 "His own soft hand shall wipe the tears "From every weeping eye;

"And pains and groans, and griefs and "And death itself shall die."

[fears,

6 How long, dear Saviour, O how long
Shall this bright hour delay ?

Fly swifter round, ye wheels of time,
And bring the welcome day.

HYMN CXCVII. Rev. XXI. 5—6, 23. (c. M.) 1 ATTEND, while God's exalted Son

'Behold, I sit upon my throne,

Creating all things new.

2 "Nature and sin are pass'd away, "And the old Adam dies;

"My hands a new foundation lay; "See the new world arise !

3 "I'll be a Sun of righteousness
"To the new heav'ns I make;
"None but the new-born heirs of grace
"My glory shall partake."

4 Mighty Redeemer! set me free
From my old state of sin:
O make my soul alive to thee;
Create new powers within.

5 Renew mine eyes, and form mine ears,
And mould my heart afresh;
Give me new passions, joys, and fears,
And turn the stone to flesh.

6 Far from the regions of the dead,
From sin, and earth, and hell,

In the new world that grace has made
I would for ever dwell.

HYMN CXCVIII. VARIOUS SCRIPTURES. (C. M.)

1 As new-born babes desire the breast,
To feed, and grow, and thrive;
So saints with joy the gospel taste,
And by the gospel live.

2 With inward gust their heart approves
All that the word relates:

They love the men their Father loves,
And hate the works he hates.

3 Grace, like an uncorrupted seed,
Abides and reigns within;
Immortal principles forbid
The sons of God to sin.

4 Not by the terrors of a slave
Do they perform his will;

But with the noblest powers they have
His sweet commands fulfil.

5 They find access at every hour To God within the veil :

Hence they derive a quick'ning power,
And joys that never fail.

6 Lord, I address thy heav'nly throne!
Call me a child of thine;
Send down the Spirit of thy Son,
To form my heart divine.

HYMN CXCIX. VARIOUS SCRIPTURES. (L. M.)
1 Go, worship at Immanuel's feet,
See in his face what wonders meet:
Earth is too narrow to express
His worth, his glory, or his grace.

2 Is he compar'd to wine or bread?
Dear Lord, our souls would thus be fed :
That flesh, that dying blood of thine,
Is bread of life, is heav'nly wine.

3 Is he a rock? How firm he proves!
The Rock of ages never moves;
Yet the sweet streams, that from him flow,
Attend us all the desert through.

4 Is he design'd a corner-stone,

For men to build their heav'n upon? I'll make him my foundation too, Nor fear the plots of hell below. 5 Is he a sun? His beams are grace, His course is joy and righteousness; Nations rejoice, when he appears To chase their clouds and dry their tears. 6 Oh, let me climb those higher skies, Where storms aud darkness never rise! There he displays his power abroad, And shines and reigns th' incarnate God,

I. (L. M.)

PRAISE God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

To God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit, Three in One,
Be honour, praise and glory giv'n,
By all on earth, and all in heav'n.

III. (C. M.)

1 THE God of mercy be ador'd,
Who calls our souls from death;
Who saves by his redeeming word,
And new-creating breath.

2 To praise the Father, and the Son,
And Spirit, all divine,

The One in Three, and Three in One,
Let saints and angels join.

IV. (s. M.)

GIVE to the Father praise,
Give glory to the Son,

And to the Spirit of his grace

Be equal honour done.

HOSANNAS.

I. (L. M.)

1 HOSANNA to King David's Son,
Who reigns on a superior throne!
We bless the Prince of heav'nly birtir
Who brings salvation down to earth.

2 Let every nation, every age,
In this delightful work engage;
Old men and babes in Zion sing
The growing glories of her King.

II. (C. M.)

1 HOSANNA to the Prince of grace!
Zion, behold thy King;

Proclaim the Son of David's race,
And teach the babes to sing.

2 Hosanna to th' incarnate Word,
Who from the Father came:
Ascribe salvation to the Lord,
With blessings on his name.

III. (s. M.)

HOSANNA to the Son

Of David and of God,

Who brought the news of pardon down,

And bought it with his blood.

To Christ th' anointed King

Be endless blessings giv'n;

Let the whole earth his glory sing,

Who made our peace with heav'n.
