ENGLISH PSALMODY: CONSISTING OF EXTRACTS FROM TATE & BRADY'S VERSION OF THE PSALMS, & HYMNS FROM VARIOUS AUTHORS: Selected for a Collection of Sacred Music HAVING THE SAME TITLE, BY J. MOLINEUX LONDON: G. B. WHITTAKER, AVE MARIA LANE; HAMILTON, ADAMS, AND CO. OF WHOM THE MUSICAL WORK MAY BE HAD. LIVERPOOL: WILLAN AND WOOD, 75, BOLD STREET; WORRALL AND TAYLOR, 1829. 178. PREFACE. THE Hymns, and Extracts from the new version of the Psalms, contained in the following pages, were selected for the Tunes in my Work entitled ENGLISH PSALMODY, DOMESTIC, CHORAL, and CONGREGATIONAL, in which each Tune is arranged for Two, Three, Four or sometimes Five, voices. The appearance of these selections in their present form, was occasioned by a suggestion that they should be used at the School and Chapel for the Blind: and I feel much indebted to the Rev. E. HULL, A. M. Chaplain of that Institution, under whose superintendence most of them were adopted, for his kindness in correcting my choice. |
