JEWISH

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, is the Author and Guide of everything that has been created, and that He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, is a Unity, and that there is no unity in any way like His, and that He alone is our God, who was, is, and will be.

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, praised be His Name, is not a body, and that He is free from all the properties of a body, and that He has no form whatever.

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, is the first and the last.

I believe with perfect faith that to the Creator, praised be His Name, and to Him alone, it is proper to pray, and it is not proper to pray to any besides Him.

I believe with perfect faith that all the words of the prophets are true.

I believe with perfect faith that the prophecy of Moses our teacher, peace be unto him, was true, and that he was the father of all prophets, both those who preceded and those who followed him.

I believe with perfect faith that the entire Torah, now in our possession, is the same that was given to Moses our teacher, peace be unto him.

I believe with perfect faith that this Torah will not be changed, and that there will never be any other Torah from the Creator, blessed be His Name.

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, knows every deed of human beings, and all their thoughts, as it is said: "He who fashions the hearts of them all, who discerns all their doings" (Psalms 35:15).

I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, rewards those who keep His command

ments, and punishes those who transgress His commandments.

I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah; and though he tarry, I will wait daily for his coming.

I believe with perfect faith that there will be a revival of the dead at the time when it shall please the Creator, blessed be His Name, and exalted be His fame for ever and ever.

I am a Jew because Judaism demands no abdication of my mind. I am a Jew because Judaism asks every possible sacrifice of my soul. I am a Jew because wherever there are tears and suffering the Jew weeps. I am a Jew because whenever the cry of despair is heard the Jew hopes. I am a Jew because the message of Judaism is the oldest and the newest. I am a Jew because the promise of Judaism is a universal promise. I am a Jew because, for the Jew, the world is not finished; men will complete it. I am a Jew because, for the Jew, man is not fully created; men are creating him. I am a Jew because Judaism places man above nations and above Judaism itself. I am a Jew because, above man, Judaism places the oneness of God.

PRAYERS

GENERAL CHRISTIAN

01

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, On earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

MY MORNING PRAYER

by WALLACE FRIDY

O God, for another day, for another morning, for another hour, for another minute, for another chance to live and serve Thee, I am truly grateful.

Do Thou this day free me

from all fear of the future,

from all anxiety about to-morrow,
from all bitterness towards any one,
from all cowardice in face of danger,
from all laziness in the face of work,
from all failure before opportunity
from all weakness when Thy power is at
hand.

But fill me

with Love that knows no barrier,

with Sympathy that reaches to all,
with Courage that cannot be shaken,
with Faith strong enough for the
darkness,

with Strength sufficient for my tasks.
with Loyalty to Thy Kingdom's goals.
with Wisdom to meet life's complexities,
with Power to lift me to Thee.

Be Thou with me for another day, and use me as Thou wilt.

For Christ's sake I pray. Amen.

PRAYER OF FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Lord, make us instruments of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

for thy mercy and for thy truth's sake.

Amen.

A PRAYER OF AUGUSTINE

O Thou, from whom to be turned is to fall, to whom to be turned is to rise, and in whom to stand is to abide for ever: Grant us in all our duties thy help, in all our perplexities thy guidance, in all our dangers thy protection, and in all our sorrows thy peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A PRAYER OF THOMAS AQUINAS

Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which no unworthy thought can drag downward; an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside.

Bestow upon me also, O Lord my God, understanding to know thee, diligence to seek thee, wisdom to find thee, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
