9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

I. PETER.

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

CHAPTER II.

The apostle urgeth them to lay aside all malice and
quile, and to desire the pure word of God. 4 Christ
is their precious corner stone. 11 They are exhorted
to abstain from fleshly lusts, 13 and to be obedient
to magistrates. 18 The duty of servants.

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be 'partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
