Then all kneeling, say the Confession and Litany following: ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, graciously vouchsafe to hear the prayers of Thy servants, who confess and bewail the innumerable offences which we have most grievously committed against Thee by thought, words, and deed; and as by Thy only Son Thou hast opened unto us the gate of eternal life, through His victory over sin and death; we beseech Thee to forgive us our sins, and so to confirm us by Thy grace, that we may walk like those who have been redeemed from sin; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, O Holy Trinity, three persons and one God, Have mercy on us. We sinners do beseech Thee to hear us, and grant that 11 St. Pet. i. 3. as we have heard this day in Thy house of prayer what our duty is, we may by Thy grace and help be enabled to accomplish it; We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. That we may not be conformed to this world, but that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we may live soberly, justly, and piously; We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. That, setting our affections on things above, we may crucify the flesh with its vices and lusts, and be ever clean of heart; We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. That we being dead unto sin, may live unto righteousness, and arising with Thee our Redeemer, may die no more; We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. And grant that as Thou hast knit together the differing Gentile nations by the confession of Christ's name, so all they who are born again in the baptismal font may be one, both in the belief of their minds and in the piety of their actions; through Christ our Lord. We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. O Lord Jesus Christ, Conqueror of sin and death, hear the prayers of Thy servants; and have mercy upon us; who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. Here may be said the Prayer which is to be used when there has been Holy Communion (see Sunday Evening Prayers, page 22); and if Easter-Day should happen to fall on the Feast of the Annunciation of the B. V. M., or of St. Mark the Evangelist, he here says the particular Collects for either of those festivals (see Saints' Day Morning Prayers). Then he says the following Thanksgiving Prayer : ALMIGHTY and eternal God, who on this day hast done Thy greatest work, in raising Thy divine Son from the dead, we pray Thee mercifully forgive the sins, the coldness, and neglect in worshipping Thee of which we have been guilty; and give us grace to avoid them for the future. Make us sensible, O God, of the daily blessings we receive from Thy bounty, especially the blessing of this great and glorious day, and as by the annual solemnity of the Lord's resurrection, Thou dost inspire us with joy, mercifully grant that by the festivals which we celebrate in time, we may be made worthy to attain to eternal bliss; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Then he says the two Collects and Prayer for a blessing, as in Sunday or Week-Day Evening Prayers (see pages 23, 74, 106). EASTER-MONDAY. MORNING PRAYER.
