3 A Coronation Hymn. C. M. LL hail the pow'rs of Jesu's name, Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown him Lord of all. 2 Let high-born seraphs tune the lyre, Before his face who tunes the choir; 3 Crown him ye morning stars of light, ; Now hail the strength of Israel's might, 4 Crown him ye martyrs of our God, Extol the stem of Jesse's rod, 5 Ye seed of Israel's chosen race, Hail him who sav'd you by his grace, 6 Crown him ye heirs of David's line 7 Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget 4 Go spread your trophies at his feet, 8 Let ev'ry tribe, and ev'ry tongue, Redeeming Love. NOW begin the heav'nly theme, Ye who Jesu's kindness prove, 2 (Ye who see the Father's grace, 3 Mourning souls dry up your tears, 4 (Ye, alas! who long have been 7s. 5 6 He subdu'd th' infernal pow'rs, 7 Hither then your music bring, I Praise to the Almighty Saviour. 11s. Long for a concert of heavenly praise, 2 I'd sing how he left his own palace of light, With robes made of glory, that dress'd him above Yet pleas'd with his journey, and swift was his flight, For he fled on the pinions of infinite love. 3 All hell and its lions stood roaring around, His flesh and his Spirit with malice they tore; While whole worlds of sorrow lay pressing him down, As vast as the burden of guilt which he bore. 4 Then mention no more of the wrath of a God! Of the lions of hell, and their roaring no more! We lift up our eyes to his shining abode, And our loudest hosannahs his name shall adore. 5 We crown the Triumpher with th' honours he won : Hosannah, through all the celestial groves! The God and the man, how he fills up his throne! How he sits, how he shines, how he looks, how he loves! 6 O happy ye heavens, and happy ye hills; 7 Amidst the full choir of archangels and songs, The mighty redeemer eternally reigns: Whilst the sound of his name from a million of tongues, Flies o'er the bright mountains, and blesses the plains. 6 LE Salvation in Christ. ET earth and heav'n agree, To celebrate with me The Saviour of mankind! T'adore the great atoning Lamb, And bless the sound of Jesus name. 2 Jesus! transporting sound! The joy of earth and heav'n : No other help is found, No other name is given, By which we can salvation have; 3 Jesus! harmonious name! It charms the hosts above; And wonder at his love: 4 His name the sinner hears, And is from guilt set free ; "Tis music in his ears, 'Tis life and victory: New songs do now his lips employ, P.M. B |
