Whit Sunday and during Whitsun

tide.

To be said after the Psalms and Lessons appointed by the Kalendar, all standing.

Veni, Creator Spiritus.

YOME, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,

COM

And lighten with celestial fire:

Thou the anointing Spirit art,

Who dost thy seven-fold gifts impart.

Thy blessed unction from above,
Is comfort, life, and fire of love.
Enable with perpetual light,
The dulness of our blinded sight.

Anoint and cheer our soilèd face,
With the abundance of thy grace.
Keep far our foes, give peace at home:
Where thou art Guide, no ill can come.

Teach us to know the Father, Son,
And thee, of both, to be but One.
That, through the ages all along
This may be our endless song;

Praise to thy Eternal merit,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Trinity Sunday and during Trinity

tide.

To be said after the Psalms and Lessons appointed by the Kalendar, all standing.

H

OLY, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to
Thee;

Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!

God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;

Cherubim and Seraphim falling down before Thee, Who wast, and art, and evermore shalt be!

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may

not see,

Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee, Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!

All Thy works shall praise Thy Name in earth, and sky, and sea.

Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!

God in three Persons, blessed Trinity !

The Collects.

The First Sunday in Advent.

LMIGHTY GOD, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious Majesty to judge both the quick and dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, now and Amen.

The Second Sunday in Advent.

LESSED LORD, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience, and comfort of thy Holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Third Sunday in Advent.

LORD JESU CHRIST, who at thy first coming didst send thy messenger to prepare thy way before thee; Grant that the ministers and stewards of thy mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready thy way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at thy second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in thy sight, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

The Fourth Sunday in Advent.

LORD, raise up (we pray thee) thy power, and come among us, and with great might succour us, that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through the satisfaction of thy Son our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

DECEMBER XXV.

The Nativity of our Lord, or the Birth-day of Christ, commonly called Christmas Day.

LMIGHTY GOD, who hast given us thy Onlybegotten Son to take our nature upon him, and as at this time to be born of a pure Virgin; Grant that we being regenerate, and made thy

children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by thy Holy Spirit; through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

DECEMBER XXVI.

Saint Stephen's Day.

RANT, O LORD, that in all our sufferings here upon earth for the testimony of thy truth, we may steadfastly look up to heaven, and by faith behold the glory that shall be revealed; and, being filled with the Holy Ghost, may learn to love and bless our persecutors by the example of thy first Martyr Saint Stephen, who prayed for his murderers to thee, O blessed Jesus, who standest at the right hand of God to succour all those that suffer for thee, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

DECEMBER XXVII.

Saint John the Evangelist's Day.

ERCIFUL LORD, we beseech thee to cast thy bright beams of light upon thy Church, that it being enlightened by the doctrine of thy blessed Apostle and Evangelist St. John, may so walk in the light of thy truth, that it may at length attain to the light of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
