All praise to Thee Who safe hast kept
And hast refreshed me whilst I slept;
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless light partake.

Lord, I my vows to Thee renew,
Disperse my sins as morning dew;
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with Thyself my spirit fill.

Direct, control, suggest, this day,
All I design, or do, or say;
That all my powers, with all their might,
In Thy sole glory may unite.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

144. L. M.

New every morning is the love
Our wakening and uprising prove;
Through sleep and darkness safely brought,
Restored to life, and power, and thought.

New mercies, each returning day,

Hover around us while we pray;

New perils past, new sins forgiven,

New thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.

If, on our daily course, our mind
Be set to hallow all we find,
New treasures still, of countless price,
God will provide for sacrifice.

The trivial round, the common task,
Will furnish all we ought to ask,
Room to deny ourselves, a road
To bring us daily nearer God.

Only, O Lord, in Thy dear love

Fit us for perfect rest above;

And help us, this and every day,

To live more nearly as we pray. Amen.

145, L. M.

Lobd God of morning and of night,
We thank Thee for Thy gift of light;
As in the dawn the shadows fly
We seem to find Thee now more nigh.

Fresh hopes have waken'd in our hearts
Fresh energy to do our parts;
Thy thousand sleeps our strength restore,
A thousand fold to serve Thee more.

Yet whilst Thy will we would pursue
Oft what we would we cannot do;
The sun may stand in zenith skies,
But on the soul thick midnight lies.

O Lord of lights! 'tis Thou alone
Canst make our darkened hearts Thine own,
Though this new day with joy we see,
O dawn of God! we cry for Thee!

Praise God, our Maker and our Friend!
Praise Him through time, till time shall end!
Till psalm and song His Name adore
Through Heaven's great day of evermore!

146. c. M.

Abide among us with Thy grace,

Lord Jesus, evermore,
Nor let us e'er to sin give place,

Nor grieve Him we adore.

Abide among us with Thy Word,

Redeemer, whom we love;
Thy help and mercy here afford,

And life with Thee above.

Abide among us with Thy ray,
O Light, that lightenest all;

And let Thy truth preserve our way,
Nor suffer us to fall.

Abide with us to bless us still,
0 bounteous Lord of Peace;

With grace and power our souls fulfil,
Our faith and love increase.

Abide among us as our shield,

O Captain of Thy host; That to the world we may not yield,

Nor e'er forsake our post.

Abide with us in faithful love,

Our God and Saviour be,
Thy help at need, O let us prove,

And keep us true to Thee. Amen.

147. c. M.

Thhough all the dangers of the night,
Preserved, O Lord, by Thee,

Again we hail the cheerful light,
Again we bow the knee.

Preserve us, Lord, throughout the day,
And guide us by Thine arm;

Tor they are safe, and only they,
Whom Thou preserv'st from harm.

Let all our words and all our ways

Declare that we are Thine,
That so the light of truth and grace

Before the world may shine.

Let us ne'er turn away from Thee;

O Saviour, hold us fast,
Till with unclouded eyes we see

Thy glorious face at last. Amen.

148. TV

Cheist, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only Light,
Sun of Righteousness, arise,

Triumph o'er the shades of night; Day-spring from on high, be near; Day-star, in my heart appear!

Dark and cheerless is the morn

Unaccompanied by Thee;
Joyless is the day's return

Till Thy mercy's beams I see:
Till they inward light impart,
Glad my eyes and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine,

Pierce the gloom of sin and grief Fill me, Radiancy Divine, Scatter all my unbelief! More and more Thyself display, Shining to the perfect day.

Father, glory be to Thee,

Glory to the Blessed Son,
Glory to the Spirit be,

Glory to the Three in One;
As it was, is now, shall be,
Filling all eternity. Amen.
