149. L. M.
Fobth in Thy name, O Lord, I go,
Thee, only Thee, resolved to know-
The task Thy wisdom hath assigned
O let me cheerfully fulfil;
And prove Thine acceptable will.
Thee may I set at my right hand,
And labour on at Thy command,
Give me to bear Thy easy yoke,
And still to things eternal look,
For Thee delightfully employ
Whate'er Thy bounteous grace hath given, And run my course with even joy,
And closely walk with Thee to heaven.
150. L. M.
O Jesu, Lord of heavenly grace,
Thou fountain of eternal light,
Whose beams disperse the shades of night;
Come, Holy Sun of heavenly love,
And we the Father's help will claim,
May He our actions deign to bless,
May faith, deep rooted in the soul,
O hallowed thus be every day;
0 Lobd, another day is flown,
And we, a lonely band,
To bless Thy fostering hand.
And wilt Thou lend a listening ear
To praises low as ours?
The song which meekness pours.
And Jesus, Thou Thy smiles wilt deign,
As we before Thee pray;
And we are less than they.
O let Thy grace perform its part,
And let contention cease, And shed abroad in every heart
Thine everlasting peace.
Thus chastened, cleansed, entirely Thine,
A flock by Jesus led,
In glory on our head.
And Thou wilt turn our wandering feet, And Thou wilt bless our way,
Till worlds shall fade, and faith shall greet The dawn of lasting day! Amen.
152. s. M.
The day, O Lord, is spent,
We have not reached that land,
Our sun is sinking now,
Praise Christ the only Son,
153. c. M.
As now the sun's declining rays
At eventide descend,
To its appointed end.
Lord, on the cross Thine arms were stretched
To draw Thy people nigh,
And in those arms to die.
All glory to the Father be,
All glory to the Son,
While endless ages run. Amen.
God the Father, be Thou near,
Make us all Thy children dear,
God the Saviour, be our Peace,
Put away our sins to-night; Speak the word of full release,
Turn our darkness into light.
Holy Spirit, deign to come,
Sanctify us all to-night;
Then our darkness shall be light.
Holy Trinity be nigh!
Mystery of love adored, Help to live and help to die,—
Lighten all our darkness, Lord. Amen.
