We taste Thee, O Thou living bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still!
We drink of Thee, the Fountain Head,
And thirst our souls from Thee to fill!

Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
Where'er our changeful lot is cast;
Glad, when Thy gracious smile we see:
Blest, when our faith can hold Thee fast.

O Jesu, ever with us stay!

Make all our moments calm and bright! Chase the dark night of sin away,

Shed o'er the world Thy holy light!

Amen.

301.

S. M.

BLEST feast of love divine!
'Tis grace that makes us free
To feed upon this bread and wine,
In memory, Lord, of Thee!

That blood which flowed for sin,
In symbol here we see;

And feel the blessed pledge within
That we are loved of Thee.

O! if this glimpse of love
Be so divinely sweet,
What will it be, O Lord, above,
Thy gladdening smile to meet!

To see Thee face to face,
Thy perfect likeness wear;

And all Thy ways of wondrous grace,
Through endless years declare!

302.

Amen.

8-6, 8-6, 8-8.

LORD, when before Thy Throne we meet,

Thy goodness to adore;

From heaven, th'eternal mercy-seat,

On us Thy blessing pour;
And make our inmost souls to be
A habitation meet for Thee!

The body for our ransom given;
The blood in mercy shed;
With this immortal food from heaven,
Lord! let our souls be fed!
And, as we round Thy table kneel,
Help us Thy quickening grace to feel!
Be Thou, O Holy Spirit, nigh!
Accept the humble prayer,
The contrite soul's repentant sigh,
The sinner's heartfelt tear!

And let our adoration rise,

As fragrant incense, to the skies. Amen.

ACCORDING to Thy gracious word,
In meek humility,

This will I do, my dying Lord,
I will remember Thee.

Thy body, broken for my sake,
My bread from heaven shall be;
The cup of blessing I take,
And thus remember Thee.

Can I Gethsemane forget,
Or there Thy conflict see;
Thine agony and bloody sweat,
And not remember Thee?

When to the cross I turn mine eyes,
And rest on Calvary;
O Lamb of God! my sacrifice,
I must remember Thee!

Remember Thee, and all Thy pains,

And all Thy love to me!

Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
Will I remember Thee!

And when these failing lips grow dumb, And thought and memory flee;

When Thou shalt in Thy kingdom come, Jesu! remember me. Amen.

LORD, pour Thy Spirit from on high,
And Thine ordained servants bless;
Graces and gifts to each supply,

And clothe Thy priests with righteousness.

Within Thy temple when they stand
To teach the truth as taught by Thee,
Saviour, like stars in Thy right hand
Let all Thy Church's pastors be.

Wisdom, and zeal, and love impart,

Firmness and meekness from above, To bear Thy people in their heart,

And love the souls whom Thou dost love.

To watch and pray, and never faint,
By day and night their guard to keep,
To warn the sinner, cheer the saint,
To feed Thy lambs, and tend Thy sheep.

So, when their work is finished here,
They may in hope their charge resign;
So, when their Master shall appear,
They may with crowns of glory shine.

Amen.

[blocks in formation]

Bow down Thine ear, Almighty Lord,
And hear Thy Church's suppliant cry,
For all who preach Thy saving word,
And wait upon Thy ministry.

In

mercy,

Father! now give heed,

And pour Thy Spirit's quickening breath On those whom Thou hast called to feed Thy flock, redeemed by Jesu's death.

O Saviour! from Thy pierced hand
Shed on them all Thy gifts divine,
That those who in Thy presence stand
May do Thy will with love like Thine.

Blest Spirit! in their hearts abide,

And give them grace to watch and pray, That as they seek Thy flock to guide, Themselves may keep the narrow way.

O God! Thy saving mercy send,

To shield them in their strife with sin; Grant them enduring to the end,

The crown of life at last to win. Amen.
