To frail earthen vessels, Those vessels soon fail, Are broken and gone ; Their sound goeth forth, As when the dread trumpets O loud be Thy trump, O may they illumine All honour and praise, Who round us hath shed And called us from darkness His glory to see. 316. Amen. 8-7, 8-7, 7-7. WHO are these like stars appearing, These, before God's throne who stand? Each a golden crown is wearing, Who are all this glorious band? Alleluia! hark they sing, Praising loud their heavenly King. Who are these in dazzling brightness, Still untouched by time's rude hand, These are they who have contended These are they whose hearts were riven, Now, their painful conflict o'er, Honour, glory, virtue, merit, Evermore be Thou adored. Amen. How bright these glorious spirits shine, How came they to the blissful seats Lo! these are they from sufferings great, Who came to realms of light, And in the blood of Christ have washed Those robes which shine so bright. Now with triumphal palms they stand And serve the God they love amidst His presence fills each heart with joy, Hunger and thirst are felt no more, God is their Sun, whose cheering beams The Lamb which dwells amidst the Throne Feed them with nourishment divine, 'Mong pastures green He'll lead His flock, Where living streams appear; And God, the Lord, from every eye Shall wipe off every tear. 318. Amen. S. M. FOR all Thy saints, O Lord, Who strove in Thee to live, Who followed Thee, obeyed, adored, Our grateful hymn receive.
