Day by day we magnify Thee,
And would evermore be nigh Thee,
Keep us from the Tempter's snare,

Save us, Lord, from sinning,
Watch us day by day;

Help us now to love Thee:

On friends around us here

Save us from all harm and danger,

Sweetly may bright guardian angels
Keep us 'neath their watchful sight.

Gentle Jesus! look in pity

From Thy great white throne above, All the night Thy heart is wakeful, Ever Thou Thine own dost love.

Shades of even fast are falling,

Day is fading into gloom;

When the shades of death fall round us, Lead Thine exiled children home.

Gentle Jesus! hear Thy children
When They sing their hymns to Thee,
