Give us an ever living faith To gaze beyond the things we see ; And in the mystery of Thy death Draw us and all men unto Thee! Amen. 85. 7's. JESU, who didst set us free While each solemn function high On the cross Thou deign'st to bear, "Finishing" the rite of rites! While death's hour is hastening on, In a word the sum is said- Yea, for us the Lamb hath died! Now His precious Blood is shed! Christ, by cruel hands betrayed, Slain for man, all praise to Thee! 86. Amen. 6-5. GLORY be to Jesus, Who, in bitter pains, Poured for me the life-blood Grace and life eternal In that Blood I find; Blest through endless ages Be the precious stream, Abel's blood for vengeance But the Blood of Jesus For our pardon cries. Oft as it is sprinkled Oft as earth exulting Lift then ye your voices Swell the mighty flood; Louder still and louder Praise the precious blood. Amen. LAMB OF GOD, whose dying Love Hear us, bless us, from above, Let Thy blood to us applied By Thine agony of pain, By Thy precious blood we pray, Cleanse our hearts from every stain, Take our load of guilt away. Burst our bonds and set us free, Saviour, bid us go in peace! Amen. "IT is finish'd!"-shall we raise Songs of sorrow or of praise, If of Calvary we tell, How can songs of triumph swell ? Ours the guilt which pierced his side, Lamb of God! Thy death hath given Songs of thankfulness and praise. Amen. 89. Go to dark Gethsemane, 7's. Ye that feel the tempter's power; There your Saviour's conflict see; See Him in the judgment-hall, Follow on to Calvary, There the blessed Jesus view Dying on th' accursed tree, Made a sacrifice for you; "It is finish'd," hear Him cry ; Learn of Jesus Christ to die. Amen. 90. 6-6-6-4, 8-8-4. BEHOLD the Lamb of God! O Thou for sinners slain, Let it not be in vain That Thou hast died: Thee for my Saviour let me take, Behold the Lamb of God! Into the sacred flood |
