To-morrow's wind fweeps over the land,
And fades the grafs away..

3 Our life contains a thousand springs,
And stops if one go wrong:
Strange, that a harp of thousand strings.
Should keep in tune fo long!

4 'Tis God alone upholds our frame, Who rear'd it from the duft; Hofanna to his holy name,

In him is all our trust.

PSALM. XXXVI.

Shortness of life and goodness of God.

TIME, what a fhort-liv'd vapour

Our days how swift they are! Swift as an Indian arrow flees, Or like a shooting star.

2 The prefent moments just appear, And slide away fo, fast

'tis !

That we can hardly fay they are here,.
Before we find they are past.

3 Yet, mighty God, tho' fwift our days, More fwift thy bounties are:

Of

Of Imaller number, tardier pace,

The moments of the year.

4 We owe our breath, fenfe, raiment, food,
Friends, all things, to thy love:
Thy grace too guides us in the road.
That leads to joys above.

5 His goodness runs an endless round;.
All glory to the Lord:

His mercy knows no narrow bound;:
And be his name ador'd..

6 Thus we begin the lasting fong;:
And, when our days are o'er,.
Let age to age thy praise prolong.
Till time fhall be no more,.

PSALM XXXVII..

God's eternal dominion.

♪ GREAT GOD, how infinite art thou!

How frail and weak are we! Let every rank of being bow, And pay its praise to thee.

2 Thy throne eternal ages ftood
Ere earth or heavens were made;

Thou

Thou art the ever-living God,

Were all the nations dead.

3 While like a tide our minutes flow,
The present and the past,
Fix'd in thine own immortal Now,
Thou feeft our ages waste.

4 Eternity, with all its years,
Stands prefent in thy view;
To thee there is nothing old appears;
Great God, there is nothing new.

5 From our perpetual changes flow
New counfels and new cares;
Thy projects no correction know,
No changes thine affairs.

6 Great God, how infinite art thou!
How frail and weak are we !

Let every rank of being bow,
And pay its praise to thee.

PSALM XXXVIII.

God's decrees.

I LET the whole race of creatures lie

Abas'd before the Lord:

Whate❜er

Whate'er his powerful word has form'd
He governs with a word..

2 Ten thousand ages ere the skies
Were into motion brought,

All the long years and worlds to come.
Stood prefent to his thought.

3 Alike the monarch, and the worm,
His firm decree fulfils,

Rifes, and finks, and lives, and dies,
And is whate'er he wills.

4 If light attend the course I go,
'Tis he provides those rays;
And 'tis his hand that hides my fun,
If darkness cloud my days.

5 Great God, contented with thy will,
I do not wish to fee

The volumes of thy deep decrees,
What months are writ for me;

6 It is enough if to my prayer One only wish be given,

That, joys or woes, all may combine

To bring me safe to heaven.

PSALM XXXIX.

PSALM XXXIX.

Hope in God and dedication of ourselves to bis

Service.

HOW can I fink while thou, O God,

Art my defence and stay?

All nature rests upon thine arm;
Thy word all powers obey.

2 How can I perish? Jesus lives;
He rofe and left the dead :
Pardon and life my foul receives
Thro' mine exalted head.

3 Lord, all I have and all I am
Shall be for ever thine;

Whate'er my duty bids me give
My cheerful hands refign.

PSALM XL.

Citizenship of chriftians

1 NOT to the terrors of the Lord,
The tempeft, fire, and fmoke,
Not to the thunder of that word
Which God on Sinai spoke,
