2 Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,
Eternal truth attends thy word;

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.

2 Praise him for his grace and favor
To our fathers in distress;
Praise him still the same as ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless:
Alleluia!

Glorious in his faithfulness!

3 Father-like, he tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame he knows;
In his hands he gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia!

Widely yet his mercy flows.

4 Angels in the height adore him!
Ye behold him face to face:
Saints triumphant bow before him,
Gathered in from every race:

Alleluia!

Praise with us the God of grace!

2 Let praise to the Lord, who made us, ascend;
Let each grateful heart be glad in its King;
The God whom we worship, our songs will attend,
And view with complacence the offering we bring.

3 Be joyful, ye saints, sustained by his might,

And let your glad song awake with each morn;
For those who obey him are still his delight,

His hand with salvation the meek will adorn.
4 Then praise ye the Lord; prepare a glad song,
And let all his saints in full chorus join;

With voices united the anthem prolong,
And show forth his praises with music divine.

Rev. Philip Doddridge, D.D.

I O, worship the King, all-glorious above!
O, gratefully sing his wonderful love!

Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.
