ich'd with a sympathy within, He knows our feeble frame; knows what sore temptations mean, For he has felt the same.

> in the days of feeble flesh Pour'd out his cries and tears; nd in his measure feels afresh What ev'ry member bears.

e'll never quench the smoking flax, But raise it to a flame;

'he bruised reed he never breaks,
Nor scorns the meanest name.

Then let our humble faith address
His mercy and his pow'r ;
We shall obtain delivʼring grace
In the distressing hour.

HYMN XLI. P. M.

The Name of Christ above every Name. 1 JOIN all the glorious names Of wisdom, love, and pow'r, That ever mortals knew,

That angels ever bore;

All are too mean to speak his worth,
Too mean to set my Saviour forth.

AIL! thou once despised Jesus, Hail! thou Galilean King! hou didst suffer to release us, Thou didst free salvation bring. ail! thou agonizing Saviour, Bearer of our sin and shame! y thy merits we find favour; Life is given through thy name. Paschal Lamb, by God appointed, All our sins on thee were laid; By Almighty Love anointed,

Thou hast full atonement made. All thy people are forgiv❜n,

Through the virtue of thy blood;

Open'd is the gate of heav'n;

Peace is made 'tween man and God.

› Jesus, hail! enthron'd in glory,
There for ever to abide!

All the heav'nly hosts adore thee,
Seated at thy Father's side.
There for sinners thou art pleading;
There thou dost our place prepare ;

Ever for us interceding,

Till in glory we appear.

4 Worship, honour, pow'r, and blessing
Thou art worthy to receive!
Loudest praises, without ceasing,
Meet it is for us to give.
Help, ye bright angelic spirits,

Bring your noblest, sweetest lays;
Help to sing our Saviour's merits;
Help to chant Immanuel's praise.

1 JESUS, the King of glory, reigns
On Sion's heav'nly hill;

Looks like a Lamb that has been slain,
And wears his priesthood still.

2 He ever lives to intercede

Before his Father's face:

Give him, my soul, thy cause to plead,
Nor doubt the Father's grace.

A new Song to the Lamb that was slain. 1 BEHOLD the glories of the Lamb Amidst his Father's throne; Prepare new honours for his name, And songs before unknown.

[blocks in formation]

Let elders worship at his feet,
The church adore around,
With vials full of odours sweet,
And harps of sweeter sound.

Those are the prayers of the saints,
And these the hymns they raise:
Jesus is kind to our complaints;
He loves to hear our praise.

4 Now to the Lamb, that once was slain, Be endless blessings paid ;Salvation, glory, joy, remain

For ever on thy head.

5 Thou hast redeem'd our souls with blood; Hast set the pris'ners free;

Hast made us kings and priests to God,
And we shall reign with thee.

Glory, glory to the Lamb!"

All in heav'n their tribute bringing,
Raising high the Saviour's name.

2 Fill'd with grateful admiration,
Let us vie with those above;
