HYMN 2. C. M.
The Excellence of Scripture. Tim. iii. 16. Rom. xv. 4.
VATHER of mercies, in thy word
For ever be thy name ador’d
For these celestial lines.
Exhaustless riches find ;
And lasting as the mind.
And yields a free repast ; Sublimer sweets than nature knows,
Invite the longing taste. 4 Here the Redeemer's welcome bice
Spreads heavenly peace around; And life and everlasting joys
Attend the blissful sound.
My ever dear delight ;
And still increasing light.
Be thou for ever near ;
And view my Saviour there. Mrs. STEELE.
Praise for the Gospel. Ps. xcvi. 1. Luke iii. 5, 6. 10 our almighty Maker, God,
His great salvation shines abroad,
And makes the nations blest.
2 He spake the word to Abr'am first,
His truth fulfils his grace ;
And learn his righteousness.
3 Let the whole earth his love proclaim,
With all her diff'rent tongues ; And spread the honours of his name
In melody and songs.
First and Second Adam. Rom. v. 14. 1 Cor. xv. 21, 22.
LORD, what was man when made at first
That thou should'st set him and his race
But just below an angel's place?
And make him Lord of all below;
And lay the fishes at his feet?
To crown the second Adam's state !
4 See him below his angels made:
See him in dust among the dead,
But he shall reign, with pow'r divine. 5 The world to come, redeem'd from all
The miseries that attend the fall,
Christ and the Church. Psa. xlviii. 10. xlvii. 9. c. 4, 5,
THE King of saints, how fair his face,
He comes with blessings from above,
And wins the nations to his love. 2 At his right hand, our eyes
behold The queen array’d in purest gold; The world admires her heav'nly dress,
Her robe of joy and righteousness. 3 He forms her beauties like his own,
He ca'ls and seats her near his throne;
The idols of thy native state.
In thee, the fav’rite of his choice ;
For he's thy Maker and thy Lord.
To his fair palace in the skies!
Each like a prince in glory reign.
Let every age his praises spread;

With never-fading rays.

Fountain opened. Zec. xiii. 1. Ps. xxxvi. 9. Isa. xii. 18.
THERE is a fountain fill'd with blood,
And sinners, plung'd beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.
That fountain in his day;
Wash all my sins away!
Shall never lose its power,
Be sav'd, to sin no more.
Thy flowing wounds supply,
And shall be till I die.
Lies silent in the grave,
