So he fent his Brothers away. When they went away, he faid, See that ye contend not by the Way. When they came up out of the Land of Egypt into the Land of Canaan to Jacob their Father, and told that Joseph was yet alive, and Governour of all the Land of Egypt, his Heart fainted tho' he did not believe them. CHA P. XLVI.

NOW, trave to and

OW Ifrael travelled with all that he had, and came to Beer-fhebah,

offered Sacrifices to the Gods of his Father Ifaac. Then the Gods fpoke to Ifrael in Vifions by Night, and said, Jacob, Jacob! Who anfwered, Here I am. And he said in return, I am the God of your Fathers; be not afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will there make you a great Nation. I will go with you to Egypt, and alfo bring you up when returning; but Jofeph fhall clofe your Eyes. So Jacob arofe from Beer-fhebah: And Ifrael's Sons brought Jacob their Father, their Little ones, and their Wives in the Waggons that Pharaoh had fent to carry him. Jacob, and all his Posterity with him, took their Cattle and the Goods which they had got in the Land of Canaan, and came into Egypt. He brought with him hither his Sons, and his Sons Sons, his Daughters, and his Sons Daughters, and all his Pofterity.

These are the Names of Ifrael's Sons, who came into Egypt with Jacob. Reuben, Jacob's Firft-born, whofe Sons were Henoch, Phallu, Hezron, and Carmi. And Simeon's Sons; Jemuel, Famin, Obad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the Son of a Woman of Canaan. And the Sons of Levi; Gerfhon, Kobath, and Merari. And the Sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Pharez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the Land of Canaan. The Sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul. And the Sons of Ilachar; Tolah, Phuvah, Job, and Shimron. And the Sons of Zebulon; Sered, Elon, and Jaleel. Thefe are the Sons of Leah, which, with his Daughter Dinah, the bare to Jacob in Padan-aram: All thefe Souls, both Sons and Daughters, were thirty-three. The Sons of Gad were Ziphion, Haggai, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. The Sons of Afher; fimnah, Ifuab, Ifui, and Beriah, with Serab their Sifter. And the Sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel. These are the Sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his Daughter, and thofe fixteen Souls fhe bare to Jacob. The Sons of Rachel, Jacob's Wife, were Jofeph and Benjamin. And to Jofeph in the Land of Egypt were born Manaffeb

and Ephraim by Afenath, Daughter of Poti-pherah, Prince of On. The Sons of Benjamin were Belah, Becher, Afhbel, Gerah, Naaman, Ehi, Bofh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. Thefe are the Sons of Rachel, whom the bare to Jacob; being in all fourteen Souls. The Son of Dan; Hufbim. And the Sons of Naptali; Jaleel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. Thefe are the Sons of Bilbab, whom Laban gave to his Daughter Rachel: And those the bore to Jacob, being in all feven Souls: So all the Souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, that were fprung from his own Loins, were fixty and fix; befides the Sons of Jofeph, who were born to him in Egypt, being two Souls. Thus all the Souls of the Houfe of Jacob, when he came into Egypt, were feventy.

He (Jacob) fent Judah before him to Jofeph, that he might be conducted to the Land of Goshen, as they came thither. And Jofeph caufed his Chariot to be made ready, and came up to Goshen to falute his Father Ifrael: He prefented himself to him, fell upon his Neck, and wept a little. Then Ifrael faid to Jofeph, Now let me die, fince I have feen your Face, and you are as yet alive. And Jofeph faid to his Brothers and to his Father's Family, I

So when Pharaoh shall call you, and fhall fay, What is your Trade? Ye fhall anfwer, Your Servants Trade bath been about Cattle, from our Youth up until now, as has been alfo our Fathers; that ye may dwell in the Land of Gofhen; for all Shepherds are an Abomination to the E gyptians.

CHA P. XLVII.

So Jofeph came and told Pharaoh, and

faid, My Father and my Brothers, their Flocks, their Herds, and all they have, are come from the Land of Canaan, and now are in Gofben. He also took five of his Brothers, and prefented them to Pharaoh; who faid to them, What is your Trade? They answered, Both we your Servants and our Fathers feed Sheep. They alfo faid to Pharaoh, We are come to live as Strangers in this Land, because there is no Pafture for your Servants Sheep in the
