4 Walk in the light! and thou shalt find Thy darkness pass'd away,
Because that light hath on thee shone, In which is perfect day!
5 Walk in the light! and even the tomb No fearful shade shall wear: Glory shall chase away its gloom, For Christ hath conquer'd there. 6 Walk in the light! and thou shalt see A path, though thorny, bright; For God, by grace shall dwell in thee, And God Himself is light!
1 LET Christian faith and hope dispel The fears of guilt and woe;
The Lord Almighty is our friend, And who can prove a foe?
2 He who His son, most dear and loved, Gave up for us to die,
Shall He not all things freely give Which goodness can supply?
3 Who then can e'er divide us more From Jesus and His love?-
Or break the sacred chain which binds The earth to heaven above?
4 Nor death, nor life, nor earth, nor hell, Nor time's destroying sway,
Can e'er efface us from His heart, Or make His love decay.
5 Each future period that will bless As it has blessed the past:
He loved us from the first of time, He loves us to the last.
OVE Divine, all love excelling, Joy of heaven to earth come down: Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, All Thy faithful mercies crown: Jesus, Thou art all compassion! Pure, unbounded love Thou art; Visit us with Thy salvation; Enter every trembling heart.
2 Breathe, O breathe, Thy loving Spirit Into every troubled breast; Let us all in Thee inherit,
Let us find Thy promised Rest. Take away our bent to sinning, Alpha and Omega be,- End of faith, as its beginning; Set our hearts at liberty.
3 Finish then, Thy new creation, Pure and spotless may we be; Let us see our full salvation, Perfectly secured in Thee. Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place; Till we cast our crowns before Thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise
LORD, how happy is the time When in Thy love I rest!
When from my weariness I climb Even to Thy tender breast! The night of sorrow endeth there- Thou art brighter than the sun; And in Thy pardon and Thy care The heaven of heaven is won. 2 Let the world call herself my foe, Or let the world allure;
I care not for the world,-I go To this dear friend and sure. And when life's fiercest storms are sent Upon life's wildest sea,
My little bark is confident,
Because it holds by Thee.
3 When the law threatens awful death Upon the dreadful hill,
Straightway from her consuming breath My soul goeth higher still;- Goeth to Jesus, wounded, slain,
And maketh Him her home, Whence she will not go out again, And where death cannot come.
4 I do not fear the wilderness
Where Thou hast been before; Nay rather will I daily press After Thee, near Thee, more.
Thou art my food; on Thee I lean; Thou makest my heart sing; And to Thy heavenly pastures green All Thy dear flock dost bring.
5 And if the gate that opens there Be dark to other men,
It is not dark to those who share The heart of Jesus then. That is not losing much of life Which is not losing Thee, Who art as present in the strife As in the victory.
6 Therefore how happy is the time When in Thy love I rest! When from my weariness I climb Even to Thy tender breast! The night of sorrow endeth there- Thou art brighter than the sun; And in Thy pardon and Thy care The heaven of heaven is won.
1 MY heart is resting, O my God— I will give thanks and sing;
My heart is at the secret source Of every precious thing.
2 Now the frail vessel Thou hast made No hand but Thine shall fill—
For th' waters of the earth have failed, And I am thirsty still,
3 I thirst for springs of heavenly life, And here all day they rise- I seek the treasure of Thy love, And close at hand it lies.
4 And a new song is in my mouth, To long loved music set— Glory to Thee for all the grace I have not tasted yet.
5 I have a heritage of joy That yet I must not see;
But the hand that bled to make it mine, Is keeping it for me.
6 My heart is resting on His truth
Who hath made all things mine,— That draws my captive will to Him, And makes it one with Thine.
I WOULD commune with Thee, my God- E'en to Thy seat I come :
I leave my joys; I leave my sins;- And seek in Thee my home.
2 I stand upon the mount of God, With sunlight in my soul :-
I hear the storms in vales beneath,- I hear the thunders roll;-
3 But I am calm with Thee, my God, Beneath these glorious skies:
