Epiphany.

4[When worn with sickness, oft hast Thou
With health renew'd my face;
And, when in sin and sorrow sunk,
Reviv'd my soul with grace.]

5 Through every period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue;
And after death in distant worlds
The glorious theme renew.

6 Through all eternity to Thee
A joyful song I'll raise;
But, oh! eternity's too short
To utter all thy praise.

"Spread of the gospel.

Mal. i, 11. Rev. xiv, 6.

1 O'ER the gloomy hills of darkness,
Look, my soul, be still and gaze;
All the promises do travail

With a glorious day of grace;
Blessed jub'lee,

Let thy glorious morning dawn!

2 Let the Indian, let the Negro,
Let the rude Barbarian see
That divine and glorious conquest,
Once obtain❜d on Calvary!

Let the gospel

Loud resound from pole to pole!

8.7.4.

Epiphany.

3 Kingdoms wide that sit in darkness,
Grant them, Lord, the glorious light!
And from eastern coast to western,
May the morning chase the night;
And redemption,

Freely purchas'd, win the day!

4 Fly abroad, thou mighty gospel,
Win and conquer, never cease!
May thy lasting wide dominions
Multiply and still increase!
Sway thy sceptre,

Saviour, all the world around!

2nd Sunday after Epiphany.

Missions to Jews and Gentiles.

Isa. li, 9-11.

1 ARM of the Lord, awake, awake!
Put on thy strength, the nations shake;
And let the world, adoring, see

Triumphs of mercy wrought by Thee!

2 Say to the heathen, from thy throne:-
I am Jehovah, God alone!

Thy voice their idols shall confound,
And cast their altars to the ground.

Epiphany.

3 No more let human blood be spilt-
Vain sacrifice for human guilt!

But to each conscience be applied
The blood that flow'd from Jesu's side.

4 Let Zion's time of favour come!
O bring the tribes of Israel home!
And let our wond'ring eyes behold
Gentiles and Jews in Jesu's fold!

5 Almighty God, thy grace proclaim
In ev'ry clime, of ev'ry name!
Let adverse pow'rs before Thee fall,
And crown the Saviour Lord of all!

Christ's matchless love.

Luke xv, 4-7. John xvii, 3. Eph. iii, 17-19.

1 ONE there is above all others

Oh! how He loves!

His is love beyond a brother's—
Oh! how He loves!

Earthly friends may fail or leave us;
One day soothe, the next day grieve us;
But this Friend will ne'er deceive us-
Oh! how He loves!

2 'Tis eternal life to know HimOh! how He loves!

after Epiphany.

Think, Oh! think how much we owe Him

Oh! how He loves!

With his precious blood He bought us;
In the wilderness He sought us;

To his fold He safely brought us

Oh! how He loves!

3 Through his name we are forgiven-
Oh! how He loves!

Backward shall our foes be driven-
Oh! how He loves!

Best of blessings He'll provide us;
Nought but good shall e'er betide us;
Safe to glory He will guide us—
Oh! how He loves!

Jesus sought in trouble.

Isa. liii, 4. Mark x, 47. Rom. viii, 34.
1 WHEN the heart is sad within,
Burden'd with the weight of sin;
When the spirit sinks with fear;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!

2 Thou the shame, the grief, hast known,
Though the sins were not thine own;
Thou hast deign'd their load to bear;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!

7's.

after Epiphany.

3[When our heads are bow'd with woe;

When our bitter tears o'erflow;

When we mourn the lost, the dear;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!]

4[Thou our throbbing flesh hast worn;
Thou our mortal griefs hast borne;
Thou hast shed the bitter tear;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!]

5[When our dying hour shall come,
And the Lord shall call us home;
When our final doom is near;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!

6 Thou hast pass'd thro' death's dark shade; Thou hast full atonement made;

Thou to God's right hand art near;
Jesus, Son of David, hear!]

Christ our joy in sorrow.

Ps. xxvii, 1; cxii, 4. Song of Sol. ii, 16.

1 MY GOD, the spring of all my joys,
The life of my delights,

The glory of my brightest days,
And comfort of my nights!
