after Trinity.

2 What though my house be not with Thee

As thy commands require;
That covenant is all my hope,
Salvation, and desire.

3 Since Thou, the everlasting God,
My Father art become,

Jesus my guardian and my friend,
And heaven my final home:

4 I welcome all thy sov'reign will,
For all that will is love;

And, when I know not what Thou dost,
I wait the light above.

Rejoicing on the way to heaven.

Rom. v, 11; xv, 13.

Acts viii, 39.

COME, ye that love the Lord,
And let your joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
While ye surround the throne.

Let those refuse to sing
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heavenly King
Should speak their joys abroad.

3 [The God, who rules on high, And all the earth surveys;

5

Who rides upon the stormy sky,
And calms the roaring seas;

This awful God is ours

A God of boundless love

And soon He'll send his heav'nly powers
To carry us above.

There we shall see his face,
And never, never sin;

There, from the rivers of his grace,
Drink endless pleasures in.]

6 [The men of grace have found
Glory begun below:

7

Celestial fruits on earthly ground
From faith and hope may grow.

The hill of Zion yields

A thousand sacred sweets,

Before we reach the heav'nly fields,

Or walk the golden streets.

Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;

We're marching through Immanuel's

ground

To fairer worlds on high.]

Expostulation with sinners.

Ezek. xviii, 31; xxxiii, 11. James iv, 8-10.

1 SINNERS turn, why will ye die?
God, your Maker, asks you, why?—
God, who did your being give,
Made you with Himself to live-
He the fatal cause demands,
Asks the work of his own hands,
Why, ye thankless creatures, why
Will ye spurn his love and die?
2 Sinners turn, why will ye die?
God, your Saviour, asks you, why?—
He, who did your souls retrieve,
Died Himself that you might live-
Will you let Him die in vain?
Crucify your Lord again?

Why, ye ransom'd sinners, why
Will ye slight his grace and die?
3 Sinners turn, why will ye die?
God, the Spirit, asks you, why?-
He, who all your lives hath strove,
Urg'd you to embrace his love-
Will ye not his grace receive?
Will ye still refuse to live?

Why, ye long-sought sinners, why
Will ye grieve your God and die?

The song of Moses and the Lamb.

Rev. XV, 3.

AWAKE, and sing the song
Of Moses and the Lamb!

Wake every heart and every tongue
To praise the Saviour's name!

Sing of his dying love;

Sing of his rising pow'r;

Sing how He intercedes above
For those whose sins He bore.

Sing on your heavenly way,
Ye ransom'd sinners, sing;
Sing on, rejoicing every day
In Christ th' eternal King.

Soon shall we hear Him say:-
"Ye blessed children come;"
Soon will He call us hence away
To our eternal home.

There shall our raptur'd tongue
His endless praise proclaim;
And sweeter voices tune the song
Of Moses and the Lamb.

Glory of the spiritual Zion.

Ps. xlvi, 4, 5; lxxxvii, 3.

1 GLORIOUS things of thee are spoken,
Zion, city of our God!

He, whose word cannot be broken,
Form'd thee for his own abode:
On the Rock of ages founded,

What can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,

Thou may'st smile at all thy foes.
2 See the streams of living waters,
Springing from eternal love,
Well supply thy sons and daughters,
And all fear of want remove:
Who can faint, while such a river
Ever flows their thirst t' assuage?
Grace, which like the Lord, the Giver,
Never fails from age to age.

2 Saviour! if of Zion's city

I through grace a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in thy Name;
Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show;
Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zion's children know.
