5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away :
Dies at the op’ning day.
Our hope for years to come,
And our eternal home.
0-8's. God our guardian. 1 HE, THAT has God his guardian made, Shall under the Almighty's shade
Secure and undisturb'à abide : Thus to my soul of Him I'll sayHe is my fortress and my stay,
· My God, in whom I will confide. 2 His tender love and watchful care Shall free thee from the fowler's snare,
And from the noisome pestilence : He over thee his wings shall spread, And cover thy unguarded head ;
His truth shall be thy strong defence.
And suft'ring saints on earth adore,
When time itself shall be no more.
L. M. Sabbath. 1 Sweet is the work, O God, our King,
To praise thy name, give thanks and sing,
And tell of all thy truth by night! 2 Sweet is the day of sacred rest,
No earthly care shall seize our breast;
Like David's harp of solemn sound !
And bless thy works, and bless thy word ;
How deep thy counsels! how divine !
L, M. God almighty and unchangeable. 1 With glory clad, with strength array'd,
The Lord, that o'er all nature reigns,
2 How surely stablish'd is thy throne,
Which shall no change or period see !
Art God from all eternity.
And toss the troubled waves on high;
And make the angry sea comply. 4 Thy promise, Lord, is ever sure;
And they, that in thy house would dwell,
Must still in holiness excel. 95
Loud thanks to our Almighty King;
To thank Him for his favours past,
The praise that to his name belongs.
Is with unrivall’d glory great ;
4 The rolling ocean's vast abyss
By the same sor’reign right is his :
That form’d and fix'd the solid land.
And bow with adoration there :
Ye tribes of ev'ry tongue;
A new and nobler song.
God's own Almighty Son:
'And grace surrounds his throne..
· Joy through the earth be seen ;
And fields in cheerful green.
The islands of the sea :
Prepare the Lord his way.)
5 Behold, He comes ! He comes to bless
The nations as their God;
And send his truth abroad.
And bid the world draw near,
To see their Judge appear! 97
Christ's advent and reign. 1 HE REIGNS! the Lord, the Saviour reigns !
Praise Him in loud triumphant strains ;
And distant islands join their voice.
Justice is their eternal ground. 3 In robes of judgment, lo! He comes,
Shakes the wide earth, and rends the tombs ; Before Him burns devouring fire,
The mountains melt, the seas retire. 4 His enemies, with sore dismay,
Fly from the sight, and shun the day:
