5 Oh! may these heav'nly pages be
My ever-dear delight!

And still new beauties may I see,
And still increasing light!

6 Divine Instructor! gracious Lord!
Be Thou for ever near;

Teach me to love thy sacred word,
And view my Saviour there!

Christ's triumphant reign.

Rev. xi, 15; xix, 6.

1 HARK! the song of Jubilee ! Loud as mighty thunders roar ; Or the fulness of the sea,

When it breaks upon the shore! Hallelujah! for the Lord

God omnipotent shall reign: Hallulejah! let the word

Echo round the earth and main.

2 Hallelujah! Hark! the sound,
From the centre to the skies,
Wakes, above, beneath, around,
All creation's harmonies:
See Jehovah's banners furl'd;

D. 7's.

Sheath'd his sword: He speaks-'tis done, And the kingdoms of this world

Are the kingdoms of his Son.

3 He shall reign from pole to pole With illimitable sway;

in Advent.

He shall reign, when like a scroll
Yonder heavens have pass'd away:
Then the end-beneath his rod
Man's last enemy shall fall:
Hallelujah! Christ in God,
God in Christ, is all in all.

Luther's.

Sinai, Calvary, and Olivet.

Ex. xix, 16-19. Luke xxiii, 33. Zech. xiv, 4, 5.

1 THE Lord of might, from Sinai's brow,
Gave forth his voice of thunder;
And Israel lay on earth below,
Outstretch'd in fear and wonder:
Beneath his feet was pitchy night,
And, at his left hand and his right,
The rocks were rent asunder.

2 The Lord of love, on Calvary,

A meek and suff'ring stranger,
Uprais'd to heaven his languid eye
In nature's hour of danger:
For us He bore the weight of woe;
For us He gave his blood to flow,
And met his Father's anger.

3 The Lord of love, the Lord of might, The King of all created,

11

Shall back return to claim his right,
On clouds of glory seated;

With trumpet-sound and angel-song,
And hallelujahs loud and long,

O'er death and hell defeated!

Joy at Christ's return.

8.7.7.

John xvi, 22. 1 Thess. iv, 16, 17. 2 Tim. iv, 8. 1 WELCOME sight! the Lord descending! Jesus in the clouds appears:

Lo! the Saviour comes, intending
Now to dry his people's tears:
Lo! the Saviour comes to reign,
Welcome to his waiting train.
2 Long they mourn'd their absent Master,
Long they felt like men forlorn,
Bid the seasons fly still faster,
While they sigh'd for his return:
Lo! the hour is come at last,
All their sorrows now are past.
3 Now, from home no longer banish'd,
They are going to their rest:

Though the heav'ns and earth have vanish'd,
With their Lord they shall be blest:

Blest with Him his saints shall be,
Blest throughout eternity.

4 Happy people! grace unbounded,
Grace alone, exalts you thus:
Be asham'd, and be confounded;
Sing for ever:-Not to us,
Not to us be glory giv❜n:
Glory to the God of heav'n!

The Lord's kingdom established.

8.8.6.

Isa. ii, 17, 18; xxiv, 23. Rev. xi, 15.

1 His kingdom come! ye saints, rejoice!
Let earth and heaven unite their voice
To swell the lofty strain:
Proclaim the joyful news abroad;
The mighty King! the glorious God!
He comes on earth to reign.

2 High o'er the pomp of worldly state,
On chosen Zion's lofty seat,

Jehovah sets his throne:

Now shall the lands confess his power,
And all the earth his name adore,
And serve the Lord alone.

3 Before the terrors of his face
Let mortal man his pride abase,
And ev'ry idol fall:

Prostrate be ev'ry haughty foe,

The pomp and power of earth be low,
And God be all in all.

The Judgment.

Isa. xxv, 9. Matt. xxv, 34. John v, 28, 29.

1 DAY of judgment! day of wonders!
Hark! the trumpet's awful sound,
Louder than ten thousand thunders,
Shakes the vast creation round!
How the summons

Will the sinner's heart confound!
2 See the Judge, our nature wearing,
Cloth'd in majesty divine!
Ye, who long for his appearing,

8.7.4.

Then shall say:-This God is mine-
Gracious Saviour!

Own me in that day for thine.

3 At his call the dead awaken,

Rise to life from earth and sea:
All the pow'rs of nature, shaken,
From his glance prepare to flee.
Careless sinner!

What will then become of thee?
4 But to those, who have confessed,
Lov'd, and serv'd the Lord below,
He will say:-Come near, ye blessed,
Take the kingdom I bestow:
