Circular letters were transmitted by his Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury to the diocesans of his province, requiring a return of all livings in their respective dioceses under a hundred and fifty pounds per annum, in order that the same might be laid before the privy council, previous to the next session of parliament.

BISHOPRIC OF LONDON.

The diocess of London contains the counties of Middlesex and Essex, except a few peculiars to the see of Canterbury, with part of Hertfordshire; and is divided into the archdeaconries of London, Middlesex, Essex, Colchester, and St. Alban's Abbey. The bishop also exercises an ecclesiastical superintendance over the British West India Islands. Charged in the king's books, 10002.
