67.

Why art thou disquieted?
God shall lift thy fallen head,
And his countenance benign
Be the saving health of thine.

Psalm 84.

1 PLEASANT are thy courts above,
In the land of light and love;
Pleasant are thy courts below,
In this land of sin and woe.
Oh, my spirit longs and faints
For the converse of thy saints,
For the brightness of thy face,
For thy fullness, God of grace!
2 Happy birds that sing and fly
Round thy altars, O Most High!
Happier souls that find a rest
In their Heavenly Father's breast!
Like the wandering dove that found
No repose on earth around,

They can to their ark repair,
And enjoy it ever there.

3 Happy souls! their praises flow,
Even in this vale of woe;

Waters in the desert rise,

Manna feeds them from the skies;
On they go from strength to strength,
Till they reach thy throne at length;
At thy feet adoring fall,

Who hast led them safe through all.

4 Lord, be mine this prize to win,
Guide me through this world of sin;
Keep me by thy saving grace,
Give me at thy side a place;
Sun and Shield alike thou art,
Guide and guard my erring heart;
Grace and glory flow from thee,
Shed, oh, shed them, Lord, on me.

1 LIGHT of life, seraphic fire,

Love divine, thyself impart;
Every fainting soul inspire;

Enter every drooping heart;
Every mournful sinner cheer,
Scatter all our guilty gloom;
Father! in thy grace appear,
To thy human temples come.
2 Come, in this accepted hour,

Bring thy heavenly kingdom in:
Fill us with thy glorious power,
Set us free from all our sin :
Nothing more can we require,
We will covet nothing less;
Be thou all our heart's desire,
All our joy, and all our peace.

69. 1 Lord of all worlds! incline thy bounteous ear; Thy children's voice in tender mercy hear; Bear thy blest promise, fixed as hills, in mind, And shed renewing grace on lost mankind. 2 Let Zion's walls before thee ceaseless stand, Dear as thine eye, and graven on thy hand; From earth's far regions Jacob's sons restore, Oppressed by man and scourged by thee no more. 3 Then shall mankind no more in darkness mourn, Then happy nations in a day be born; From east to west thy glorious Name be one, And one pure worship hail th' eternal Son.

1 AGAIN the day returns of holy rest,

10s.

Which, when he made the world, Jehovah blessed; When, like his own, he bade our labors cease, And all be piety, and all be peace.

2 Let us devote this consecrated day
To learn his will, and all we learn obey ;
So shall he hear, when fervently we raise
Our supplications and our songs of praise.

3 Father in heaven! in whom our hopes confide, Whose power defends us, and whose precepts guide, In life our Guardian, and in death our Friend, Glory supreme be thine till time shall end.

1 HAIL, happy day! thou day of holy rest,
What heavenly peace and transport fill our breast!
When Christ, the God of grace, in love descends,
And kindly holds communion with his friends.

2 Let earth and all its vanities be gone,
Move from my sight, and leave my soul alone;
Its flattering, fading glories I despise,
And to immortal beauties turn my eyes.

3 Fain would I mount and penetrate the skies,
And on my Saviour's glories fix my eyes:
Oh! meet my rising soul, thou God of love,
And waft it to the blissful realms above!

1 O DAY of rest and gladness,
O day of joy and light,
O balm of care and sadness,
Most beautiful, most bright;
On thee, the high and lowly,
Bending before the throne,
Sing, Holy, Holy, Holy,

To the Great Three in One.

2 On thee, at the creation,

The light first had its birth;
On thee, for our salvation,

Christ rose from depths of earth ;
