Barcelona, per Carles Amoros, 1546 Written in the Catalan dialect. On the title-page there is the date of 1547, which circumstance seems to have led Brunet, who found copies in catalogues under one or other of these dates, to imagine that there were two distinct editions, although one and the same.

I find no trace of any perfect copy having been sold in England. Payne and Foss possessed, 1832-1840, a copy, wanting leaf 114, priced £3. 138 6d. 982 MARCH (Ausias) Las Obras de, con el Vocabulario delos Vocablos en ellas contenidos, 18mo. in the original red morocco binding, gilt leaves, very rare, £4. 4s Valladolid, 1555 Priced, 1828, Stewart and Co. £3. 10s; sold by auction, 1855, Lord Stuart de Rothesay's copy, stained, £3. 10s. "Ausias March is the prime glory of the Spanish Troubadours. He died in 1460. His verses are harmonious, natural, and pleasing, pregnant with interesting truths and moral reflections. They are generally pervaded by that soft spirit of melancholy which is so often the favourite companion of the lyre. His poetry is the poetry of truth and wisdom. It has the condensation of proverbs and the force of philosophy. One listens to him as to an inspired prophet." —Retrospective Review. Cardinal Granvelle esteemed this work so highly that he used to carry it in his bosom, as Alexander did Homer.
