3 Father, in these reveal thy Son;

In these for whom we seek thy face,
The hidden mystery make known,
The inward, pure, baptizing grace.

4 Jesus, with us thou always art:
Effectuate now the sacred sign;
The gift unspeakable impart,
And bless the ordinance divine.

5 Eternal Spirit, descend from high,
Baptizer of our spirits thou!
The sacramental Seal apply,

And witness with the water now!

6 O that the souls baptiz'd herein,

1

May now thy truth and mercy feel; May rise and wash away their sin: Come, Holy Ghost, their pardon seal!

HYMN 477.

[8 lines 7's & 6's.]

FATHER, Son, and Holy Ghost,

In solemn power come down!
Present with thy heavenly host,
Thine ordinance to crown:
See a sinful worm of earth:
Bless to him the cleansing flood;
Plunge him by a second Birth,
Into the depths of God.

2 Let the promis'd inward grace
Accompany thy sign;
On his new-born soul impress
The character divine!
Father all thy name reveal!
Jesus, all thy name impart!
Holy Ghost, renew and dwell
For ever in his heart!

PART V.

SECTION I.

For the Society at Meeting.

HYMN 478.

ND are we yet alive.

[S. M.]

1 AND are each other's face?
Glory and praise to Jesus give,
For his redeeming grace!
Preserv'd by power divine
To full salvation here,
Again in Jesu's praise we join,
And in his sight appear.

2 What troubles have we seen!
What conflicts have we past!
Fightings without, and fears within,
Since we assembled last:

But out of all the Lord

Hath brought us by his love: And still he doth his help afford, And hides our life above.

3

Then let us make our boast
Of his redeeming pow'r,

Which saves us to the uttermost

Till we can sin no more:
Let us take up the cross,
Till we the crown obtain ;

And gladly reckon all things loss,
So we may Jesus gain.

HYMN 479.

[8 lines 7's.]

PEACE be on this house bestow'd,

Peace on all that here reside: Let the unknown peace of God, With the Man of Peace abide;

Let the Spirit now come down,
Let the blessing now take place;
Son of Peace, receive thy crown,
Fulness of the Gospel Grace.

2 Christ, my Master and my-Lord,
Let me thy forerunner be;
O be inindful of thy Word,
Visit them and visit me:
To this house and all herein,

Now let thy salvation comes →
Save our souls from inbred sin :
Make us thy eternal home !+

3 Let us never, never rest,

1

Till the promise is fulfill'd;.
Till we are of thee possess'd,
Pardon'd, sanctify'd, and seal'd:
Till we all in love renew'd:
Find the pearl that Adanı lost:
Temples of the living God,
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

HYMN 480.

[8 lines T's.]

LORY be to God above,

God from whom all blessings flow,

Make we mention of his love,
Publish we his praise below:
Call'd together by his grace,

We are met in Jesu's Name;
See with joy each other's face,
Followers of the bleeding Lamb.
2 Let us then sweet counsel take,
How to make our calling sure;
Our election how to make,

Past the reach of hell secure:
Build we each the other up;

Pray we for our faith's increase:

Solid comfort, settled hope,
Constant joy, and lasting peace.
3 More and more let love abound:
Let us never, never rest,
Till we are in Jesus found,
Of our paradise possest:
He removes the flaming sword,

1

Calls us back from Eden driv'n:

To his image here restor'd

Soon he takes us up to heav'n!
