HYMN 499.”

COME, let us ascend, My companion

and friend,

To a taste of the banquet above: If thy heart be as mine, If for Jesus it pine,

Come up into the chariot of love. • Who in Jesus confide, We are bold to outride

The storins of affliction beneath; With the prophet we soar, To the hea venly shore,

And outfly all the arrows of death. 3 By faith are we come To our perma. nent home,

By hope we the rapture improve; By love we still rise, And look down on the skies;

For the heaven of heavens is love. 4 Who on earth can conceive, How happy

we live

[King! In the palace of God the great What a concert of praise, When our Je sus's grace,

The whole heavenly company sing! What a raptuous song, When the glo rified throng,

To the great everlasting I AM:

To the Lamb that was slain, And that liveth again,

Hallelujah to God and the Lamb!

The Lamb on the throne, Lo! he dwells with his own,

And to rivers of pleasure he leads! With his mercy's full blaze, With the sight of his face,

Our beatified spirits he feeds.

name,

Our bodies his glory display:

A day without night We feast in his 11 sight,

And eternity seems as a day.

ALL praise to our redeeming Lord,
Who joins us by his grace,

And bids us each to each restor❜d,.
Together seek his face.

2 He bids us build each other up;
And gather'd into one,

200

To our high calling's glorious hope
We hand in hand go on.

3 The gift which he on one bestows,
We all delight to prove,

The grace thro' every vessel flows
In purest streams of love.

Ev'n now we think and speak the same,
And cordially agree,
Concentred all thro Jesu's Name

In perfect harmony.

We all partake the joy of one,
The common peace we feel;
A peace to sensual minds unknown,
A joy unspeakable.

And if our fellowship below
In Jesus be so sweet,

What height of rapture shall we know,
When round his throne we meet!

Praying.

HYMN 501.

[C. M.].

JESUS, great Shepherd of the sheep,

To thee for help we fly:

Thy little flock in safety keep;
For, oh! the wolf is nigh!

1

2 He comes, of hellish malice full,
To scatter, tear and slay:
He seizes every straggling soul,
As his own lawful prey.

Us into thy protection take,
And gather with thy arm!
Unless the fold we first forsake,
The wolf can never harm.

We laugh to scorn his cruel pow'r
While by our Shepherd's side:p?
The sheep he never can devour,
less he first divide.

6 O do not suffer him to part,

The souls that here agree:

But make us of one mind and heart,
And keep us one in thee!

6 Together let us sweetly live, Together let us die!

1

And each a starry crown receive,.
And reign above the sky.

HYMN 502.

[C. M.]

C.Dig, thou omniscient Son of Man,"

Display thy sifting pow'r :

Come with thy Spirit's winnowing fan, And throughly purge thy floor.

2 The chaff of sin, the' accursed thing,
Far from our souls be driv'n !
The wheat into thy garner bring.
And lay us up for heav'n.

3 Look thro' us with thy eyes of flame;
The clouds and darkness chase;
And tell me what by sin I am,
And what I am by grace.

4 Whate'er offends thy glorious eyes,
Far from our hearts remove;
As dust before the whirlwind flies,
Disperse it by thy love.

3 Then let us all thy fulness know,
From every sin set free:

Sav'd to the utmost,-sav'd below.
And perfectly like thee.

[blocks in formation]

1

TRY us, O God, and search the
ground,

Of every sinful heart;
Whate'er of sin in us is found,
O bid it all depart!,

2 When to the right or left we stray
Leave us not comfortless!

But guide our feet into the way
Of everlasting peace.

8 Help us to help each other, Lord,
Each other's cross to bear,
Let each his friendly aid afford,
And feel his brother's care. ¡ ̧

4 Help us to build each other up,
Our little stock improve;"
Increase our faith, confirm our hope,
And perfect us in love.

s Up into thee our living Head,
Let us in all things grow,

Till thou hast made us free indeed,
And spotless here below.

6 Then when the mighty work
wrought,

Receive thy ready Bride; Give us in heav'n a happy lot With all the sanctified.
