to thy appointment, we expect the sun to renew his daily course, so we pray, in confidence of thy mercy, that we may arise again from our beds in peace and health to serve and glorify thee in a Christian life and conversation. Continue to us, in a sanctified use of them, every blessing tending to make this life comfortable. Keep us ever mindful of the hand that gives and secures them to us, nor permit us to abuse the least of them to thy dishonour, and the injury of our own souls. ask all in the name, and for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

Amen.

We

M. O Lord, regard the cry of thy servants.
A. And make us glad with the light of thy

countenance.

M. Let the pitifulness of thy great mercy

succour us.

A. And break the chain of our sins.

M. Send into all our hearts, the Holy Ghost, the Comforter.

A. Let him abide with us for ever.

M. O Lord accomplish the number of thy elect.
A. And hasten thy kingdom.

AN INTERCESSORY PRAYER.

O MERCIFUL God, who madest all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, send forth thy light and truth for the conversion of all Jews, Mahometans, and Pagans. Bless thy Church, with all ranks and orders of men in the same, that they may be as the salt of the earth, having salt in

themselves, and being at peace one with another. Preserve sound doctrine in all congregations of the saints. Bless our country, and preserve it from outward enemies, and internal commotions. Bless the King, with the royal family, and all who rule over us. Comfort, O God of love, all who are on beds of sickness or pain, or in any affliction. Oh sweeten the bitter cup of suffering, by giving them the saving knowledge of Christ, and the hope of heavenly glory. (Especially A. or B.) Grant these blessings to the praise of thy glorious grace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A THANKSGIVING,

O GOD, Lord of all, and blessed for evermore, and most worthy to be praised in all thy gifts and benefits, receive our humble and hearty thanks, for our Creation, preservation, and all the mercies of another day, now added to our lives. Glory be to thee, for blessings on our persons, our families, and our lawful pursuits. Glory be to thee, for spiritual benefits; especially that we were born in a Christian land, made members of thy holy Church, and enjoy peaceable opportunities of worshipping thee in public and in private. We praise thee; we worship thee; we magnify thee, as for other mercies, so above all for thine inestimable love in the gift of Jesus Christ, and in the hope, through him, of heavenly glory. Keep us, we humbly beseech thee, walking in the light of thy truth, that we may finally walk in the light of that city which hath no need of the sun nor moon to shine in it,

and where there is no night. To thee, O Father Almighty, with the Lamb that was slain, and the Holy Ghost, be blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, for ever and ever. Amen.

Or this,

O MERCIFUL Father, Lord of heaven and earth, we thank thee for all thy mercies and favours continually and largely bestowed upon us; especially that thou hast not only created us, but redeemed us, and called us to know, love, and serve thee, and hast preserved us both in body and soul, from time to time, unto this present hour. Thou hast been our refuge in tribulations, and our defence and succour in adversities thou hast gently corrected us when we have offended thee, hast comforted us when sad, hast strengthened us under trial and temptation, and kept us from utter and merited ruin. We acknowledge, O Lord, thy more than fatherly kindness to us from our birth to this time: and that thou hast granted so largely thy creatures for our sustenance and service; some for health, some for use, and some for delight. Grant that we may be

moved by all these thy benefits, to meditate on thy goodness, and heartily to praise thee both with our lips and in our lives. Enkindle in us a more ardent desire to magnify thy blessed name, and so to order our ways before thee, that we may no more grieve thy blessed Spirit, who with thee and thy adorable Son, our only Saviour, liveth and reigneth, one God, world without end. Amen. Our Father, &c.

CONCLUDING COLLECT.

O LORD, pity and pardon, bless, sanctify, and save us all; close our hearts with the seal of that peace which is from above, from every thought that may assault them, and hurt our souls. And may we awake up on the morrow, to serve thee as thy redeemed and adopted sons, through thy only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with us all, now, and evermore. Amen,
