Or this,

O GOD by whom Kings rule and Princes minister judgement, bless our King, (with the Queen,) and all the royal family; give wisdom and grace to all his Counsellors, and to the Nobility, Judges, and Magistrates of our land, that they may govern in the fear of thee, and promote the true happiness of thy people committed to their charge. Cause the bright beams of thy favour to gladden thy Church, that she may arise and shine in all the earth, reflecting the knowledge of Christ to such as sit in darkness and the shadow of death. May all her Bishops and Pastors be men after thine own heart, taking the oversight of the flock for conscience sake, and carefully feeding them with the truth of thy word. We beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men, that it would please thee to divide thy gifts of providence and grace to each according to their several necessities. Bless all near and dear to us. Comfort and relieve all who are in any affliction, Especially &c. &c. Prepare such as are recovering from sickness for holy and useful lives, and the dying for a joyful resurrection to eternal glory. These and all other mercies, for ourselves and all mankind, we humbly ask in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

A THANKSGIVING.

O LORD God, Father of all mercies, accept our hearty thanksgivings for every blessing spiritual and temporal, of which we are at this time the unworthy partakers. Thou art the fountain of

life and health, of peace and truth, of rest and quietness, of grace and holiness. We adore thee as such, and praise thy name for whatever of these gifts we enjoy or desire. Thanks be to thee especially for the preservation and sleep of the past night, and for this renewed opportunity of making known to thee our wants, and obtaining a fresh supply of our necessities. And glory be to thy name that we approach thee on a throne of grace, encouraged by thine own promises; and that we have an advocate with thee, who is also the propitiation for our sins. Help us, O Lord, to praise thee for this inestimable gift of thy Son, and evermore to rejoice in the comforts of thy Holy Spirit, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Or this,

O GOD, rich in mercy, to whose inexhausted bounty we owe all honour and praise, accept our hearty thanks that thou hast kept us to the beginning of this day from evil we have justly merited; and that thou hast with bountiful hand, supplied us to this hour with the necessaries and comforts of this life, which we have justly forfeited. Every morning thy mercies to us are renewed, and thy great faithfulness is manifested. We acknowledge, O Lord, that we owe much to thee for our Creation, but much more for our Redemption. Nor is it the least of thy benefits for which we now adore thee, that thou hast called us from our state of nature wherein we were dead in trespasses and sins, to a state of grace and salva

tion. O Lord, continue and keep us still in this grace, nor let us any more grieve thy blessed Spirit, who with thee and the Son our only Saviour, liveth and reigneth, one God, world without end. Amen.

Our Father, &c.

CONCLUDING COLLECT.

VOUCHSAFE, O Lord, to keep us in the love of those things which thou commandest, and in the desire of those which thou hast promised. Grant that among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may be fixed, where true joys are to be found, and that amid all the cares of this day, we may be kept walking before thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May grace, mercy, and peace, be multiplied unto us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, this day, and evermore. Amen.

2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

3. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases.

4. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction, who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies.

5. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.

6. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. ciii. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 13.

7. Every day will I bless thee, and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

8. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

9. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.
