DARBY. 1 THOUGH faint, yet pursuing, we go on our way, The Lord is our leader, His word is our stay; Though suffering and sorrow and trial be near, The Lord is our refuge, and whom can we fear? 2 He raiseth the fallen, He cheereth the faint; If the weak are opprest, He hears their complaint; The way may be weary, and thorny the road, But how can we falter whose help is in God? 3 And to His green pastures our footsteps He leads; His flock in the desert how kindly He feeds! The lambs in His bosom He tenderly bears, And brings back the wanderers safe from the snares. BB 4 Though clouds may surround us, our God is our light; Though storms rage around us, our God is our might: So faint, yet pursuing, still onward we come, The Lord is our leader, and heaven our home. 5 And there all His people eternally dwell, With Him who hath led them so safely and well: The toilsome way over, the wilderness past, And Canaan the blessed is theirs at the last. 570 1 PILGRIMS ILGRIMS we are and strangers, Our path is full of dangers, But, in our God confiding, 2 Our heavenly habitation We view the blissful prize : 3 Jesus is gone before us, Those mansions to prepare ; The prospect, O how cheering! 4 Then let us ne'er be weary, 571 1 EAVENLY Father, to whose eye 5 All I ask for is enough, 6 Should Thy wisdom, Lord, decree 7 Let me neither faint nor fear, THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. 572 1 BIDE with me! fast falls the eventide; When other helpers fail, and comforts flee, 2 Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day; Earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou, who changest not, abide with me! 3 Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word; But, as Thou dwell'st with Thy disciples, Lord, Familiar, condescending, patient, free, Come, not to sojourn, but abide with me! 4 Come not in terrors, as the King of kings, But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings; Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea : Come, Friend of sinners, and abide with me! |
