No. 1. THE DIANA HEAD-DRESS. The chignon for the Diana head-dress consists of a rich shower of curls; and in order to make these look as full as possible, they are first frizzed and then brushed over a thick stick like a ruler, made purposely for curls, and called a curling stick. The front hair is rolled back over a frizette, and a thick plait of hair crosses the top of the forehead as a coronet. The comb which fastens in the curls at the back is exquisitely ornamented at the top with Brazilian beetles set in gold. These insects are very brilliant and lustrous at night, and are as changeful and effective as humming birds. The earrings and brooch correspond with the comb.

No. 2. VELVET BONNET.-The style of bonnet that was most in favor through the past summer

continues to rule, with slight variations, this winter. The above is a square shape of purple velvet, trimmed with black lace, and beads, and tea-roses. Some who do not care to cover the ears even in cold weather, fasten the strings behind, under the chignon, with a tea-rose. Both styles look well.

No. 3.-A hat of gray felt, with small feathers of the same color; it is bound with black velvet, and has at the left side a bow and long ends of the same.

No. 4.-A round hat of black velvet, the broad brim turned up quite flat; at the back, loops and ends of broad black velvet; round it is a wreath of roses and buds, one end of which falls over one of the loops.
