7 And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him: and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

9 And Saul eyed David from that day and

16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

8 Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy ser vant into a covenant of the LORD with thee:

17 And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal an-slay me thyself; for why shouldest swered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

21 And behold, I will send a lad, saying, If I expressly say Go, find out the arrows. unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for speed, haste, stay not. there is peace to thee, and no hurt, as the LORD liveth.

38 And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make And Jonathan's lad master. gathered up the arrows, and came to his

39 But the lad knew not any thing; only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

22 But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.

23 And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.

40 And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.

41 And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, ed himself three times and they kissed one and fell on his face to the ground, and bowanother, and wept one with another, until David exceeded."

5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel. 6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shew-bread, about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will that was taken from before the LORD, to put the son of Jesse give every one of you fields hot bread in the day when it was taken away. and vineyards, and make you all captains

10 And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

11 And the servants of Achish said unto

him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

4 And he brought them before the king of Moab; and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

51 And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

2011 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

21 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD's priests.

22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.

23 Abide thou with me, fear not; for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

CHAP. XXIII.

12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilahı deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

13 ¶ Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah,and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph: and Saul sought him every day; but God delivered him not into his hand.

15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

16 And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 And he said unto him, Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee: and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shal! he next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

THEN they told David, saying, Behold, 18 And they two made a covenant before the Philistines fight against Keilah, and the LORD. And David abode in the wood, they rob the thrashing-floors. and Jonathan went to his house.

2 Therefore David enquired of the LORD, 19 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul saying, shall I go and smite these Philistines? to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himAnd the LORD said unto David,Go and smite self with us in strong holds in the wood, in the Philistines, and save Keilah. the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

3 And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

4 Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him, and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

22 Go, I pray you, prepare vet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilely.
