Satan might then full vict'ry boaft;
The church might wholly fall;
If one believer may be loft,

It follows, fo may all.

VI.

But Chrift in ev'ry age has prov'd
His purchase firm and true.
If this foundation be remov'd,
What shall the righteous do?
VII.

Brethren, by this your claim abide,
This title to your bliss:
Whatever lofs you bear befide,
O! never give up this.

HYMN

CXXVII.

Dependence on CHRIST alone,

I.

I fall away;

F ever it could come to pass,

My fickle feeble foul, alas!

Would fall a thousand times a day.

Were not thy love as firm as free,

Thou foon would't take it, Lord, from me,

I on

II.

I on thy promifes depend,

(At least, I to depend defire) That thou wilt love me to the end; Be with me in temptation's fire; Wilt for me work, and in me too; And guide me right, and bring me through. III.

No other stay have I befide;

If thefe can alter, I must fall. I look to thee, to be supply'd

With life, with will, with pow'r, with all. Rich fouls may glory in their ftore; But Jefus will relieve the poor.

REAT God to thee I'll make

My wants and forrows known;

And with an humble hope,
Approach thine awful throne ;

Tho' by my fins deferving hell,

I'll not defpair; for "Who can tell ?"

II.

To thee who by a word.

My drooping foul canft cheer,
And by thy Spirit form,

Thy glorious image there;
My foes fubdue; My fears difpel:
I'll daily feek, for “ Who can tell ?”.
III.

In danger or distress,
To thee alone I'll fly;
Implore thy pow'rful help,

And at thy footstool lie;

My cafe bemoan, my wants reveal,
And patient wait, for "Who can tell?"
IV.

My heart mifgives me oft,

And confcience ftorms within ; One gracious look from thee

Will make it all ferene.

Satan fuggefts that 1 fhall dwell

In endlets pains; but "Who can tell ?"

V..

Curft unbelief be gone;

Ye doubts fly fwift away;

God hath an ear to hear,

Whilft I've a heart to pray;

If he be mine, all will be well ;
For ever fo; and "Who can tell ?"

HYMN CXXIX.

ZION

The Church, a Garden,

I.

ION's a garden wall'd around,
Chofen, and made peculiar ground;

A little fpot, inclos'd by grace,

Out of the world's wide wilderness.

II.

Like spicy trees, believers stand,
Planted by an Almighty hand;
And all the springs in Zion flow,
To make the rich plantation grow.
III.

Awake, O heav'nly wind, and come,
Blow on this garden of perfume;
Spirit divine, defcend and breathe
A gracious gale on plants beneath.

IV.

Make thou our fpices flow abroad,
A grateful incenfe to our God,
Let faith, and love, and joy appear,
And every grace be active here.

WAY with our forrow and fear !
We foon fhall recover our home

The city of faints shall appear,

The day of eternity come;
From earth we fhall quickly remove,
And mount to our natiye abode,
The houfe of our Father above,
The palace of angels and God.
II.

Our mourning is all at an end,

When rais'd by the life-giving word,

We fee the new city defcend,

Adorn'd as a bride for her Lord:

The city fo holy and clean.

No forrow can breathe in the air,

No gloom of affliction or fin,

No fhadow of evil is there.

III.

By faith we already behold

That lovely Jerufalem here!
Her walls are of jafper and gold,

As chrystal her buildings are clear:
Immoveably founded in grace
She ftands, as the ever hath ftood,
