COLOSSIANS ii. 15. EPHESIANS vi. 13-18.

496 1 THESSA. V. 8, 9. 2 TIMOTHY ii. 3.—iv. 7. 8. L. M. 1 SOLDIER of Christ, shake off thy fear, And gird the gospel armour on;

For we must toil and conflict bear
If we would go where Christ is gone.
2 Hell and the world resist our course,
Hell and the world are conquered foes;
He triumphed o'er them by his cross
And proved the triumph when he rose.
3 Then let us strive the crown to gain;
March boldly to the heavenly gates;
There saints with Christ in triumph reign,
And glory for each soldier waits.

4 Conquerors o'er sin, the world, and hell,
We shall be like and with our Lord;
With him for evermore to dwell,
Like him who is by heaven adored.

SOLD

EPHESIANS Vi. 11-18.

OLDIERS on the earth below,
Marching to the heavenly land,
Let us meet by faith each foe,
For by faith alone we stand;

2 Called to combat in Christ's name
Ever keeping his command,
Let us trust, for doubt is shame,
And by faith alone we stand.
3 We shall win the glorious prize
With his true and faithful band;

7's.

Let us trust when dangers rise,
For by faith alone we stand.
4 Let us trust in life and death,
Trust our souls in Jesus' hand;
Trust him till our latest breath,
For by faith alone we stand.

5 Then shall faith be turned to sight,
With our Saviour we shall be,
And in perfect, pure, delight,
Spend the vast eternity.

JOB XXXviii. 6, 7. LUKE ii. 14. LUKE xxiv. 53.
REVELATION xxi. 1-4.

1 SONGS of praise the angels sang,
Heaven with hallelujahs rang,

When Jehovah's work begun,
When he spake, and it was done.

2 Songs of praise awoke the morn,
When the Prince of Peace was born:
Songs of praise arose when he
Set the slaves of Satan free.

3 When we meet the judgment day,
When the heavens have passed away,
When we see new heavens and earth,
Songs of praise shall hail their birth.

4 Praising to their latest breath
Saints can conquer pain and death;
And amidst eternal joy

Praise will still their powers employ.

7's.

5 Praising then with heart and voice,
Let us in the Lord rejoice,
Learning here by faith and love
How to sing his praise above.

ONS of the Eternal God

SONS

Travelling to our heavenly home, Let us sing along our road

To the bliss beyond the tomb.

2 Let us leave the things behind
Hastening on our homeward way;
Let us seek and we shall find
Help in every trying day.

3 Let us lay each weight aside,
Which retards us in our race;
While in Jesus we confide
To sustain us by his grace;
4 He will keep us by that grace
Till we win the blissful prize;
Till we see him face to face,
Raised to joy that never dies.
5 Fear not tried and trembling soul
Only in his love believe;

We shall shortly reach the goal
And the crown of life receive.

6 Like the saints already gone
To the land of glorious rest,
Let us trust and travel on,
And like them we shall be blest.

7's.

NOON may the last glad song arise, Through all the millions of the skies; That song of triumph which records

That all the earth is now the Lord's.

2 Let thrones, and powers, and kingdoms be Obedient, mighty God, to thee;

And over land, and trackless main,
Sway thou the sceptre of thy reign!
3 Oh, that that anthem now might swell,
And host to host the triumph tell;
That not one rebel heart remains,
But over all the Saviour reigns!

1 CHRONICLES xxix. 30, PSALM XXXI. 15.

1 SOVEREIGN ruler of the skies!
Ever gracious ever wise!

All our times are in thy hands
Ordered by thy wise commands.

2 Times of sickness and of health;
Times of penury and wealth;
Times of trial and of grief,
Or of triumph and relief;

3 Times the tempter's power to prove;
Times to taste the Saviour's love:
All must come, and last, and end,
As shall please our heavenly Friend.
4 O thou gracious, wise, and just,
In thy hands our lives we trust:

7's.

We and ours are all thy own,
Let thy holy will be done.

5 Thee, at all times, will we bless;
Having thee, we all possess ;
May we still submissive be,

Pleased with all that pleases thee?

TRAIT is the way, the door is strait,
Which leads to joy on high;

'Tis but a few that find the gate,
While crowds mistake and die.

2 Beloved self must be denied,
The mind, the will renewed;
Passion suppressed, and patience tried,
And vain desire subdued.

3 Each sense, each temper, well controlled,
Must in subjection be;

And we must slay the lust of gold,
Which is idolatry.

4 The tongue, that most unruly power,
Requires a strong restraint;
We must be watchful every hour,
And pray, and never faint.

5 Lord, can a feeble sinful worm
Fulfil a task so hard?

Thy grace must all the work perform,
And give the free reward.
