PART I. PSALM I. TO XLI. INCLUSIVE. PSALM I. I. 10 HAPPY the man who walks not Nor stands in the way of sinners; 2 But Jehovah's law is his delight; In His law doth he meditate day and night! 3 II. Indeed he is like to a tree By canals of waters planted, Which produces its fruit in its season : His leaf also doth not wither: And all that he doeth He brings to a prosperous issue. 4 Not so the wicked; but they Are as chaff which the whirlwind scatters. 5 III. Therefore the wicked Shall not rise in the judgment: Neither sinners In the assembly of the righteous. 6 For Jehovah blesses the way of the righteous: But the way of the wicked perishes. STROPHE DIVISION 2. 2. 2. PSALM II. I. 1 WHY assemble the heathen tumultuously, And the peoples imagine vanity? 2 3. The kings of the earth are arrayed, Against Jehovah, And against His Messiah : "Let us break their bands asunder, "And cast away their cords from us." 4 5 6 II. He sitting in heaven doth laugh: The Lord derides them. Then speaks He to them in His wrath : "I nevertheless, even I, "Have invested My King "On Sion My holy mountain." 7 8 9 10 11 12 III. I will surely declare the statute: "Thou art My Son : "To-day have I begotten Thee: 66 The heathen for Thine inheritance : "And for Thy possession "The ends of the earth. "With iron rod Thou shalt bruise them: "As a potter's vessel shiver them." IV. And now, ye kings, be wise: Serve Jehovah with fear: And acclaim with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, STROPHE DIVISION 3. 3. 3. 3.=12. 1 PSALM III. A PSALM OF DAVID, WHEN HE FLED FROM HIS SON ABSALOM. 2 I. How greatly, Jehovah, mine enemies multiply! Multitudes rise up against me: Multitudes say to my soul, "He hath no salvation in God!" PAUSE. II. 3 But Thou art a Shield about me: And the Lifter up of my head. 4 With my voice I am wont to call on Jehovah : From his holy hill He is wont to answer me. PAUSE. III. 5 I lay me down, and fall asleep : I awake for Jehovah sustains me. 7 8 IV.
