I

E who doth in the bosom dwell

HE

Of the Moft High, shall safely stay, By the Almighty's fhadow well-v Protected round by night and day.

2 I of Jehovah will pronounce,

That he's my Hope, and my High-tow'r;
My God, who gives me a response,
When I to him my pray'r fhall pour.

3 Affuredly be fhall thee fave,:

And keep thee from the fowler's fnåre,
And from the all-devouring grave,

When fubtile plagues infeft the air.
4 He shall defend thee with his wing, '.
And vail thee with his feathers round;
And thoufhalt truft in him thy King,
Whofe truth's a fhield and buckler found.

5 No terror of the night fhall fall,

Nor deadly horror on thee feize;
No winged arrow touch thee fhall,
That flies by day-light fandom-ways:
-6-And at the noisome peftilence,

That walks in darknefs, thou shalt laugh;
Noon-day deftructions get them hence,
And fly before thy face like chaff.

A thousand at thy fide fhall fall,

And at thy right-hand thousands more,
But thee it ne'er fhall touch at all,?
When all the rage of war fhall roar
8 Thou only with thine eyes fhalt fee,
And ftand a fafe fpectator by,
When all the proud rewarded be,
Who dar'd the Lord thy God defy.
Because the Lord, my refuge high,
Was made by thee thy dwelling place;
o There fhall no evil come thee nigh,
Nor plague approach thy palaces.

9

I For he fhall give his angels charge* Concerning thee in all thy ways, Their guard around thee to enlarge,' And keep thee all thy nights and days 12 They in their hands thall bear thee up, Still waiting on their Lord alone; Left th' enemy would interrupt,

14

And dafh thy foot against à ftone.
13 Upon the adder thou shalt tread,
And on the roaring lion ftrong;
Thy feet fhall bruife the dragon's head,
And trample on the lions young.
Because on me he fet his love,.
I'll fave and fet him up on High;
Because he did my name approve,
I'll make him quell the enemy.
He'll call on me, I'll anfwer hig
I will be with him in his pain;
His longing eyes fhall not grow dim,
Till I fhall raife him up again:

15

re I'll raife him up with glory crown'd,
And give him everlasting days:
Meffiah's name my mouth fhall found,
And all my works fhall give him praife.

The ways of God are holy all,
The ways of peace and praife!
For joy and thankfulness they call:
Come, join Meffiah's lays-
Meffiah, like the palm-tree high,
Shall flourish, ever fair,
Before the Lord eternally;
Whofe glory we shall share.

HOW

OW fweet, how pleasant, yea, and good,
Is it to blefs the Lord;

And, with the voice of gratitude,

His praifes to record!

2 I'll praife and fing, O thou Moft High,
With joy, the live-long day;

And when the ev'ning fhades draw nigh,
I'll raise my ev'ning lay:

Thy faithfulness fhall be my theme,
Thy love fhall melt my fong;
3 My mufic fhall exalt thy name;
Thy truth my notes prolong:
My fweeteft cymbals I will chufe,
With harp of folemn found;
And ev'ry choiceft air I'll ufe,
To fpread thy glory round.

4 For thou, O Lord, haft made me glad,
Thro' this grand work of thine:
I'll triumph in the works were made.
By thine own hands divine:

5 O Lord, how great thy wonders be,
Thy thoughts how very deep,

6 No brutish man can ever fee, No fool can therein dip.

7 For, when the wicked fpring as grafs,
And evil-workers bloom;

It is that they may quickly pafs,
And feel a heavy doom,

8 For thou, O Lord, art God Moft High,
The God for evermore,

Lord Paramount o'er earth and fky';
Whom heav'n and earth adore.

9 But, lo, thine enemies, O Lord,
Lo, all thine enemies, y
Shall perish by thy furbish'd fword:
They fall, and never rife.

to But

O But thou my horn fhalt high exalt,
High, like the unicorn;

Thou with fresh oil anoint me fhalt,
And hail me thy FIRST-BORN.

11 Mine

eye fhall fee my heart's defire
On all mine enemies;

Mine ear fhall hear what I require
On thofe who 'gainst me rife.
1.2. But like the palm-tree flourish'd high
Shall be the Righteous One;

And cedar-like fhall reach the sky,
Like thofe in Lebanon.

13 Thofe that within the houfe of God
Are planted by his grace,

They all fhall grow and spread abroad
In our God's holy place.

14 And in old age, when others fade,
They fruit ftill forth fhall bring;
They fhall be fair, and rear their head,,
And aye be flourishing:

15 To fhew that upright is the Lord;
He is a Rock to me;

And he from failure in his word
Is altogether free:

He pledg'd his word that he would raise
Me and my faints on high:

I therefore, with my faints, will praife-
His word eternally..

The floods had lifted up their voice;
The floods had lifted up their waves :
He faid, Be ftill: and hufh'd their noife:
His people by his pow'r he faves.
MESSIAH reigneth; he's array'd
With majesty and glory bright;

The Lord with ftrength and pow'r is clad;
He girds himself about with might:
The world he poiz'd upon the flood,
That it cannot be mov'd away :

2 Thy throne, O everlasting God,
Shall unto everlasting stay.

3 The floods have lifted up aloud,

The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves to God;
But he commands, and ftills their noife,
4 The Lord on high is mightier far
Than many founding waters be;
Yea, than the mighty waves that war,
Revolving, roaring on the fea.

5 Thy teftimonies firm and pure,
In faithfulness and pow'r excel;

The boift'rous waves could not endure-
At thy rebuke they funk and fell.
Lo, holinefs becomes thine house,
Lord our God, for evermore:

In mercy fmile and thine on us,
That we may ftand thy face before.
