C. M. 175
The Gospel Feast.
Behold a royal feast !
For every humble guest.
He calls—he bids you come:
Behold, there yet is room.
The blessings of his love;
Of nobler joys above.
Before th eternal throne,
In songs on earth unknown.
Are welcome still to come:
And enter while there's room.
L. M. 61. 176
The Gospel adapted to give Peace and Rest. PEACE, humbl'd soul, whose plaintive moan
Hath taught these rocks the notes of wo;
And let thy tears forget to flow;
To lull thy pain, to heal thy wound.
Unburthen here thy weighty load;
Here find thy refuge and thy rest,
And trust the mercy of thy God: Thy God's thy Saviour-glorious word! Forever love and praise the Lord.
L. M. 177
Sinners invited to Living Waters. HO! every one that thirsts-draw nigh;
'Tis God invites the fallen race; Mercy and free salvation buy ;
Buy wine, and milk, and gospel grace. 2 Come to the living waters--come!
Sinners, obey your Maker's call;
And find his grace is free to all.
S. M. 178
Now the accepted Time.
Now is the day of grace;
And seek the Saviour's face. 2 Now is th' accepted time,
The Saviour calls to-day;
Then why should you delay? 3 Now is th' accepted time,
The gospel bids you come ;
Declares there yet is room. 4 Lord, draw reluctant souls,
And feast them with thy love:
To bear the news above.
8. M. 179
Nor the accepted Time.
To-morrow's not our own ;
Come, bow before the throne ! 2 Oh hear his voice to-day,
And harden not your heart:
Pronounce the word—depart.
C. M. 180
Pardon and Sanctification offered.
To gather empty wind;
Will starve a hungry mind.
peace: He gives by covenant, and by oath,
The riches of his grace. 3 Come—and he'll cleanse our spotted souls,
And wash away our stains
Poured from his dying veins.
And deep engrave his law;
To swift obedience draw,
And we shall render praise;
And he, our God of grace.
God's gracious Call to Sinners.
To draw our hearts above:
And every word is love.
By Christ, the living way;
Through an eternal day!
And seek thy Father's face!
Were kindled by his grace.
He hears thy humble sigh:
When no one else is nigh.
Thy Saviour bids thee live :
How freely he'll forgive.
And wipe the falling tear:
'Tis love invites thee near,
THUS saith the wisdom of the Lord,
2 The soul that seeks me shall obtain
Immortal wealth, and heavenly gain ;
Sinners urged to accept the Invitation. YE, who in his courts are found, Listening to the joyful sound, Lost and helpless as ye are, Sons of sorrow, sin, and care, Glorify the King of kings,
Take the peace the gospel brings. 2 Turn to Christ your longing eyes,
View this bleeding sacrifice;
the gospel brings.
Expostulation with Sinners. SINNERS, turn-why will ye die ? God, your Maker, asks you why: God, who did your being give, Made
with himself to live.
God, your Saviour, asks you why:
He who died, that you might live. 3 Will you let him die in yain ?
Crucify your Lord again?
ye slight his grace, and die?
