With all the ransomed, we shall spend A Sabbath which shall never end.

Prayer for a Blessing on public Worship. IN thy great name, O Lord, we come, To worship at thy feet;

Oh pour thy Holy Spirit down
On all that now shall meet.

2 We come to hear Jehovah speak,
To hear the Saviour's voice:
Thy face and favor, Lord, we seek;
Now make our hearts rejoice.

3 Teach us to pray, and praise, and hear, And understand thy word;

To feel thy blissful presence near,
And trust our living Lord.

[blocks in formation]

COME, O thou mighty Saviour,
We look for thine appearing;
Descend we pray,

Thy love display,

Our waiting spirits cheering.

2 Come, clothed with glorious power; Let all thy saints adore thee, And let thy word,

The Spirit's sword,

Subdue thy foes before thee.

3 May every heart with gladness, Thine offered grace receiving, Now cease from sin,

And pure within,

Have peace, in thee believing.

4 Then, when thou com'st to judgment,
On flying clouds descending,
May we rejoice,

When, at thy voice,
The solid earth is rending.

[blocks in formation]

LORD, we come before thee now;
At thy feet we humbly bow;

Oh do not our suit disdain !

Shall we seek thee, Lord, in vain? 2 Lord, on thee our souls depend; In compassion now descend; Fill our hearts with thy rich grace; Tune our lips to sing thy praise.

Answer to Prayer supplicated.

ETERNAL God of love!
Thou hast in light above,
Thy radiant throne.

As low before thee now,
In penitence I bow,
My humble prayer allow,
My worship own.

2 No gift to thee I bring;
Of me no offering

Thy law demands:

Jesus, one victim given,
The vail forever riven-
Now entered into heaven,
My High Priest stands.

3 With guilt and fear distressed,
Saviour! to thee for rest,

My spirit flies:

Smile thou, and cheer my soul;
Let grace my sins control;
When round me billows roll,
My help arise.

4 If thy right hand sustain,
My foes may rage in vain;
Triumph is mine:

Onward my soul shall press,
Strong in thy righteousness,
And every tongue confess,
The glory thine.

Prayer for Sincerity in Worship.
LORD! when we bend before thy throne,
And our CONFESSIONS pour,
Oh may we feel the sins we own,
And hate what we deplore.

2 When we disclose our wants in PRAYER, May we our wills resign;

And not a thought our bosom share,
Which is not wholly thine.

3 And when with heart and voice we strive Our grateful hymns to raise,

Let love divine within us live,
And fill our souls with PRAISE.

Christ ever present in his Churches.
JESUS, where'er thy people meet,
There they behold thy mercy-seat;
Where'er they seek thee, thou art found,
And every place is hallowed ground.

2 For thou, within no walls confined, Inhabitest the humble mind;

Such ever bring thee, where they come, And going, take thee to their home. 3 Great Shepherd of thy chosen few! Thy former mercies here renew; Here to our waiting hearts proclaim The sweetness of thy saving name.

7s.

Prayer for a Blessing on Preaching.
SAVIOUR, bless the word to all,
Quick and powerful let it prove;
Oh let sinners hear thy call,
And thy people grow in love.
2 Thine own gracious message bless,
Follow it with power divine;
Give the gospel great success,
Thine the work-the glory thine.
Saviour, bid the world rejoice,
Send, oh send thy truth abroad!
Let the nations hear thy voice,
Hear it, and return to God.

Sanctifying Influence of the Truth sought.

I HEAR thy word with love,

And I would fain obey;

Lord, send thy Spirit from above

To guide me, lest I stray.

2 Oh! who can ever find
The error of his ways?

Yet, with a bold, presumptuous mind,
I would not dare transgress.

3 Warn me of every sin,

Forgive my secret faults,

And cleanse this guilty soul of mine,
Whose crimes exceed my thoughts.
4 While with my heart and tongue,
I spread thy praise abroad,
Accept the worship and the song,
My Saviour, and my God.

Delight in the Worship of the Sabbath.
SWEET is the work, O Lord,

Thy glorious name to sing;
To praise and pray-to hear thy word,
And grateful offerings bring.

2 Sweet-at the dawning light,
Thy boundless love to tell;

And when approach the shades of night,
Still on the theme to dwell.

3 Sweet-on this day of rest,

To join in heart and voice,
With those, who love and serve thee best,
And in thy name rejoice.

4 To songs of praise and joy

Be every Sabbath given,

That such may be our blest employ
Eternally in heaven.

DISMISSIONS.

DISMISS us with thy blessing, Lord;
