A SONG OF DEGREES. IN my distress I cried unto JEHOVAH, and he heard me, Deliver my soul, O JEHOVAH, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. . What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war...
A SONG OF DEGREES.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. JEHOVAH shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall prǝserve thy soul. JEHOVAH shall preserve thy going out and thy com- 8
ing in, from this time forth, and even for evermore.
PSALM CXXII. A SONG OF DEGREES OF DAVID." I WAS glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of JEHOVAH. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem iş builded as a city that is compact together: 3 whither the tribes go up, the tribes of Jehovahthere is the testimony of Israel. .. . to give thanks unto the name of Jehovah.' For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, : : : and prosperity within thy palaces...: For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. . Because of the house of Jehovah our God,.. I will seek thy good.

of their masters, '
upon us:. .: ; il mi : for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. --, Our soul is exceedingly filled.:. to with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud...!
PSALM CXXIV. A SONG OF DEGREES OF DAVID. :. IF it had not been JEHOVAH who was on our side, now may Israel say; , . I If it had not been JEHOVAH who was on our side, when men rose up against us : Then they had swallowed us up quick, . when their wrath was kindled against us: is . Then the waters had overwhelmed us, vit. : the stream had gone over our soul ::...... .... Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. ;; Blessed be JEHOVAH, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.' Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers :: the snare is broken, and we are escaped... Our help is in the name of JÉHOVAH, who made heaven and earth. .
PSALM CXXV. .
moirs. A SONG OP DEGREES.
. THEY that trust in Jehovah shall be as mount Sion, i which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so Jehovah is round about his people, from henceforth even for ever. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest
upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Do good, O JEHOVAH, unto those that be good, 4 and to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, 5 Jehovah shall lead them forth with the workers of ini
quity; . . but prosperity shall be to Israel.
A SONG OF DEGREES. WHEN JEHOVAH turned again the captivity of Sion, ! we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the hcathen, JEHOVAH hath done great things for them. JEHOVAH hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O JEHOVANI, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

: A SONG OF DEGREES FOR SOLOMON.
EXCEPT JEHOVAH build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except JEHOVAH keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up lạte, to eat the bread of sorrows : for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of JEHOVAH :: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man ; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
A SONG OF DEGREES.
BLESSED is every one that feareth JEHOVAH : that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands : happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
