375. The humble comforted.

YE humble souls, complain no more,
Let faith survey your future store;
How happy, how divinely blest,
The sacred words of truth attest.

When conscious grief laments sincere,
And pours the penitential tear :
Hope points to your dejected eyes,
The bright reversion in the skies.
In vain the sons of wealth and pride
Despise your lot, your hopes deride:
In vain they boast their little stores,
Trifles are theirs, a kingdom yours:-
A kingdom of immense delight,
Where health, and peace, and joy unite;
Where undeclining pleasures rise,
And ev'ry wish hath full supplies :

A kingdom which can ne'er decay,
While time sweeps earthly thrones away;
The state which power and truth sustain,
Unmov'd for ever must remain.

There shall your eyes with rapture view
The glorious friend that dy'd for you; .
That dy'd to ransom, dy'd to raise
To crowns of joy, and songs of praise.
Jesus, to thee I breathe my prayer,
Reveal, confirm my interest there:
Whate'er my humble lot below,
This, this my soul desires to know,

O let me hear that voice divine
Pevance the glorious blessing mine!
Erved among thy happy poor,
My urgest wishes ask no more.

376. The Wise Virgins.

Y vingia souls, arise,
With all the dead awake;
Cato salvation wise,

Ok in your ressels take:
Ustarting at the midnight cry,
Besoed your hear niy bridegroom nigh.
He comes, he comes, to call
The nations to his bar,
And take to glory all

Who meet for glory are:

Make ready for your free reward;
Go forth, with joy, to meet your Lord.

Go. meet him in the sky,

Your everlasting friend;

Your head to glorify,

With all his saints ascend:

Ye pare in heart, obtain the grace
To see without a veil, his face.

Ye. that have here receiv'd

The anction from above,

And in his spirit liv'd,

And thirsted for his love;

Jesus shall claim you for his bride:
Rejoice with all the sanctify'd.

Then let us wait to hear

The trumpet's welcome sound; To see our Lord appear,

Watching may we be found! With that blest wedding-robe indu'd, The blood and righteousness of God.

377. Zion the Church of God. GLORIOUS things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God!

He, whose word can not be broken,
Form'd thee for his own abode:
On the rock of ages founded,
What can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,
Thou may'st smile at all thy foes.
Blest inhabitants of Zion,
Wash'd in the Redeemer's blood!
Jesus, whom their souls rely on,
Makes them kings and priests to God:

'Tis his love his people raises

Over self to reign as kings:

And as priests, his solemn praises
Each for a thank-offering brings.

Saviour, if of Zion's city
I thro' grace a member am;
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in thy name:
Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show!

Solid joys and lasting treasure,
None but Zion's children know.

378. Salvation draws nigh.

DARKNESS overspreads us here,
But the night wears fast away;
Jacob's star will soon appear,
Leading on eternal day!

Now 'tis time to rouse from sleep,
Trim our lamps and stand prepar'd;
For our Lord strict watch to keep,
Lest he find us off our guard,

Let his people courage take,
Bear with a submissive mind
All they suffer for his sake,
Rich amends they soon will find:
He will wipe away their tears,
Near himself appoint their lot;
All their sorrows, pains, and fears,
Quickly then will be forgot.

Tho' already sav'd by grace,
From the hour we first believ'd;
Yet while sin and war have place,
We have but a part receiv'd;
Still we for salvation wait,
Ev'ry hour it nearer comes !
Death will break the prison gate,.
And admit us to our homes,

379. Aspiring Heavenwards.

Now let our souls, on wings sublime,
Rise from the vanities of time;

Draw back the parting veil, and see
The glories of eternity.

Born by a new celestial birth,
Why should we grovel here on earth?
Why grasp at transitory toys,
So near to heaven's eternal joys?
Shall aught beguile us on the road,
When we are walking back to God?
For strangers into life we come,
And dying is but going home.

Welcome, sweet hour of full discharge
That sets our longing souls at large;
Unbinds our chains, breaks up our cell,
And gives us with our God to dwell.
To dwell with God, to feel his love
Is the full heav'n enjoy'd above;
And the sweet expectation now
Is the young dawn of heaven below.

380. Gospel Privileges.
HAPPY are they to whom the Lord
His gracious name makes known!
And by his Spirit and his word
Adopts them for his own!

He calls them to his mercy seat,
And hears their humble pray'r;
